Thanks, the image does look much clearer in real life, I just suck at taking picks without the flash on, LOL.

Alright well I got a bit more done today, I got the panel glued , painted and test mounted. Here are some nice candy shots of it:
After the glue set I painted it

then I mounted it in place for test fitting:

I'm gonna make another little stip of plexi to cover the rest of the drive cage as I had to move the plates back a bit more than I expected for the Molex pugs to clear, shouldn't be a big deal though. :D

Is this the drive cage? Are you just going to have the wires running down through the bottom?

Yep, it covers the drive cage and the wires can run from behind the motherboard tray in through the other side so hopefully no wires will be visible- at least that is the look I'm going for.

Man, put up allot of new pics, get over 500 views and only a handfull of replies? :waah:

Hope to work more on it in the next week or so. :dremel:

    LEDs

Absolutely beautiful etching work. Have you thought about using LEDs to light the plexi from the sides to make the etchings glow?

Sorry to bump this since it hasn't been updated, but this is just awesome work :D

Hey not problem, thanks for the nice comments, and yes I do plan to light up some etches with LED's but not the ones that are painted over.

I got in my LCD and wired it up today and tested it, I need to download and get the software working and mount the LCD in place. Here are some pics in daylight and at night with the test pattern:

I had seen 2 different guides on how to wire this up and they were both different so I followed the one that had to potentiometers so I could adjust the contrast and brightness.

Cool. I have to say seeing this has given me more faith in the design I'm working on. Planning on doing glowing hieroglyphics etched onto backlit plexi. :thumb:

Looking good. I'm really looking forward to watching this progress.

Ok, got the mounting plate done and have it mounted, here are some pics (pardon the dust, it is always dusty in this house):

Very sweet. You know, the more I see of this the more it screams for a completely custom case to highlight all the etched plexi. It almost seems a shame that it's in a tower case :D

LOL, yeah thanks, well I do have a totally custom case idea for my next project and if I can pull off what I have in my mind it will be pretty cool and it will have even more etchs that will be more like that last etch I did on the inside of the case (a total Celtic theme).

Sounds sweet. Hopefully you can pull it off :D If this case is any indication the etching will look awesome

It will be great but don't overdue; etchings need some flat area as a contrast to be seen.
