OK i won a pelt on ebay a week ago and i have been playing with it since i got it. Now if I'm not mistaken, aren't these things supposed to get so cold that it starts to frost over? for some reason mine will only get really hot. I heard that if you plug it in back wards that it will get hot so i flipped it and it still is getting hot. Am i doing something wrong?

    1) Have you thought of putting this in Extreme Cooling?
    2) Have you cooled the hottest side of the pelt? I'm very sketrchy on this, but the cold side will probably get colder if you remove the heat from the whole thing (guesswork obviously).
    3) Was it guaranteed to work when you bought it?

u got a pic or a clicky to the manurfactures web site? with pelts the hot side has got to be cooled with more than just a heat sink, u need a fan on top, not a massive one but n effective one.

if you remove 50watts of heat from the hot side the cold side will remove 50watts of heat (well close). So the more heat you remove the colder it gets.
Also you should not have it running un-cooled. its not good for the peltier.

as for a p4 cooler cooling it, it wont do too much, water cooling would be best

Heres a simple GPU TEC Guide that might give you some idea how to go about getting it going.....

They have a hot side and a cold side which needs to be determined before you go and blow something up!

    Might help some :thumb:

A peltier's just a way of moving heat from one place to another.... and it's not 100% efficient, so it'll heat itself up.

Depending on the power of the peltier, it keeps one side a certain number of degrees cooler than the other... so for example..

80Watt peltier tries to keep a 30c difference... therefore

hot side 20c cold side -10c
hot side 40c cold side 10c

So yeah, you need to stick a heat sink on the hot size of the thing (and I do believe you might need a cold plate aswell). Ach, coolmiester knows what he's on about :D
