Ooo that's nice. Celluloid, if done right, looks amazing.

I hate people with nice writing, maybe I should just delete all their posts? :p

This is what I've been writing with recently:

It's a Macaw feather, about 32cm in length. The holder and nib take it up to 36cm.

Metal tipped pencil. The trick's in the composition of the tip, soft enough to leave a trace behind but hard enough to hardly wear away.

Can anyone recommend a good website for pens? Want to get my girlfriend a really nice pen for her birthday as she loves writing. If you could also recommend some pens that would be great. Something metallic in gun metal grey would be great.

EDIT: Well a quick look around and I'm pretty sure I've found the pen(s) I'm going to get her. A Faber-Castell Ambition Pearwood Brown Fountain Pen, but with a medium nib. Anyone owned one of these or have any experience with the make? Had a look for reviews and everyone who owned one loved it.

Will probably also get her the matching rollerball and pencil, bills depending. Can get all 3 from The Online Pen Company at a decent price.

    Here you go

I have had a few things from them, a couple of pens and inks and they came through quickly and at a pretty decent price from what I could tell having a look around.

Take a look at the Monteverde Invincia line. Some very nice ones in there. Also the Jin Hao pens are AWESOME value for money.

I like TWSBI designs but I would avoid the Vac 700.

No matter how much I try I can't get it to work for my hand writing. It looks brilliant but it just doesn't perform the way it looks.

Just my opinion. There are many who love it. I hear good things about the 540 and the 580 though.

TWSBI VAC 700 is quite horrible, it never felt right in my hand and didn't write well.

    Sold it off!

I have the 540 and it's lovely to write with. No idea about the VAC700, that's interesting as I nearly bought one the other day.

That is the only model from TWSBI that I have owned, I really wasn't impressed.

Mmm... Those TWSBI 540's look great.

I may have just caved and gone for an Axel Weinbrecht inkless pen(cil):

    For £18 from Tiger pens, I thought I'd take a punt! :D

They are lovely, I've become very attached to my Rotring despite not really using it.
