Did you manage to find out if that was a good price for them?

As far as I can tell you can't buy them in the UK - the last thing I'm going to look into is just buying them from the US as shipping is $11 for two pens. I can't find anything on ebay cheaper (once you've factored in shipping) but I'll have a look elsewhere too.

Edit: Actually - are these the same?

    http://www.cultpens.com/acatalog/Pilot-MR-Fountain-Pen-Black.html

It'd still be more money that the massdrop buy but you wouldn't then have the hassle of international shipping + customs etc

Edit 2: Reading around it would appear that those are in fact the same - some copyright issue or other meant that they couldn't call it the metropolitan outside of the US or something. The UK version also appears to use the international standard cartridges / converter rather than the proprietary ones that the US version of the metropolitan does.

Apologies for the double post, but in case anyone was wondering - I've had an email confirmation from Cult Pens that the MR is definitely the same pen as the Metropolitan and the UK version on their site definitely does take international cartridges and converters.

I read a review of the pen and the sharp metal edge put me off.

Ah right - thanks. I read that review too and I tend to hold the pen closer to the nib so I think I'll be ok. I have also read / watched reviews of it where people who do hold the pen further back where fine with the step up / down. I think I'll be buying soon so I'll post my thoughts :)

Mine arrived a few days ago, only just tried it out. M nib a bit thinner than I was expecting which is great, but I personally prefer something a little finer.

It writes really smoothly though and very comfortable to hold. Ink flows correctly and no feathering on basic printer paper. Overall, very impressed!

Safe to say I want them all! I've had to avoid even looking at places like the Writing Desk recently due to all the inks I can't afford!

£10 for the whole lot (including a free 5ml sample). So not too bad really.

Years ago there used to be a Cross factory not far from me (maybe 15km) but it has shutdown since. When my gran died a few years ago my brother got a Cross Pen. Lovely pen. It's something to remember her by every time it's used

So I crumbled, and am adding another pen to the collection. I'll take a photo of it when it arrives, but here's the product shot:

For once I'm not getting a fountain pen (shocking I know) - it's going to be a Meisterstuck Classique 90th Anniversary in red gold. I've also got to pick another new Montblanc for my medical graduation next summer - any ideas? Some of the limited editions look really quite nice.
