hi all ok my friend says he has a pentium 5 prosseser of cours i say "no you dont they haven't made them yet" please tell me this is true i dont want to loose my bet. so have they made them yet
In a word, No. They're nowhere near as far as i know... You would definately have seen dozens of adverts on TV claiming their pc's have their new Pentium V in them, and the internet itself would probably be s**t-hot with info around the launch...
If there is a Pentium 5 on the market, Intel knows nothing about it. They don't even have one on their processor road-map. Maybe you should have your friend sell it to them, I am sure they would pay millions to have it.
Heck even Intel can figure out what the bloomin heck the Pentium 5 is going to be having hacked and slashed their R&D for the next couple of years It is exceedingly unlikely that your friend has a Pentiun 5!
Unless he happens to have a time machine?? Then i would want proof (and a demonstration) that it works. Death
no pentium 5 isnt released yet. sure he doesnt mean a presscot? expected release date: late 2005 - Early 2006
OK, I was kidding - if you follow the Link the Intel Processor Web page that I provided earlier you can see every Intel processor being sold as of today (including 386's). Considering Intel owns the Pentium name and Intel is not selling anything called a Pentuim 5, it is impossible for anyone to have one. If you go one step further, and look at their processor road map you can see that they have no offical plans to release a Pentium 5 through June of next year. So in short . . . No.
Maybe he is just confused about it from getting one of those new LGA775 Processors and had it mistaken for a P5.
no he didnt get confused when we all took the whatsamacalit tests he scored the highest of the grade and hes going to some speciel shool next year thats for 9 graders when he is soposed to get into 7. (no not highschool some privet one) when he gets back on aim you can talk to him your self and ask
Me thinks he is bragging to gain friends, when it will do the exact opposite. Especially when he trys and tells some1 he has a P5, then gets laughed at and laughed at and laughed at.... Death
sure he said pentium 5 and not P5(not entirely sure the "p" there is for pentium.) There used to be cpus that were called Pentium P5 that I think were mostly in the 60-200MHZ range. That's the only way he could have one. edit: found a link - http://www.pcguide.com/ref/cpu/fam/g5P54-c.html
nope he said pentium five 3.somthing ghz prosseser and a bunch more stuff that i also think he was no telling the truth with
is it possible hes got one of the new socket P4s? cant remember how many pins but wif a socket change ud think theyd call it a P5
Yea, he could mean the original "Pentium", which followed the 486. It often referred to as the Pentium 586. Intel decided to "name" the chip "Pentium" ("Pent"="5") rather than just follow the 086, 286, 386, 486 convention, as you can't copyright numbers - hence rival (Cyrix, AMD) "Pentium" class cpu's were called 586. edit: just read the link, glad I wasn't talking twaddle.
he ment pentium five as in pentuim4 ,3 ,ect besides your not sopposed to help him your on my side (i hope )
