i agree that pentium 5 dosnt exist and i agree aswell to the fact that sometimes ppl call prescotts>pentium 5
Tell him to run CPU-z, lets see what happens, the program would probably F*&% up as it wouldnt recognise a P5? no? Tell him to run it anyway
lol, yea sorry - just playing devil's advocate. Either way though, he's either wrong or has a very old system.
he is at a swimming lesson i will tell him ones he gettes back um can i have the site for the program again
hey my friend got on aim his sn is sciencewiz007 oh no hes realy pissed after reading this thread i think i hurt his feelings
Even if Intel did release a Pentium 5, the name is stupidly redundant, no? I'd guess that your friend is trying to sound all smart and impressive, but he's full of horse manure
Intel just changed their naming scheme where they will use PR rating instead of Ghz to name their processors. (like AMD does.) If I'm not mistaken, the new P4 processors are in the 5XX category, so he probably has like a P4 530 or something like that. Either way, he should pay more attention. Funny, this happened to me at work just last week. My boss asked me to spec out some new workstations from dell, so I did and he got on my case about the P4 processors I chose, he said "why don't you upgrade these to the new P5s that are out now." sigh.... EDIT: before I get pwned for mentioning Dell, I did offer to build the machines myself from components I would recommend, but they said no because they didn't wany any "frankenstein" machines.
The warrenty on the retail machines is what attracted my boss to go with Dell instead of having me assemble the machines (my machines would have been cheaper and better to boot). If you have to buy retail, Dell isn't too bad. Much better than gateway and hp (need a shudder smiliey).
lease dont tell me ur mate spent $1000 or suttin gettin a P5 which is just a new socket P4, coz then he is really stupid
If the prescott had arrived last year before christmas like it was supposed to it would have been called pentium 5, but since it was so damn late intel kept it as a pentium 4, from everthing i've read intel won't ever have a pentium 5. Even the p4 is dead and they are going to replace it with a cpu based on the pentium m. he might have a pentium m and is mistakenly calling it a p5.
