Been looking around on the net for a few days and nothings what im after, All i want to know is,
If i have a Pentium M 1.73Ghz CPU, What is its equal in Pentium 4 terms?

    e.g. PM 1.73Ghz = P4 2.4Ghz

(And if you`ve got the info, Whats its equal in Celeron)
Simple you`d think but everywhere i go starts explaing the architecture(sp?).. Yay.

    Mike.

Its hard to say, depends what your going to be doing with it...

2.55ghz can match/compete with ~ 4.3 ghz P4/pressie, but only in certain things. ie, 3d/compression but things like encoding etc a much slower P4 will do the job...

I dont plan on doing anything special with it, its just i`d like to know what my Laptops CPU is equal to in p4 terms, So i`d guess from that info that 1.73Ghz PM = 3.5Ghz P4 Give or take a few?

    In general, its PM speed * 1.8 = P4 speed so thats ~ 3.15

There're so many different configs for P4s and PMs that it's hard to say! When I got my Banias 1.7GHz pentium M, it was faster than a Socket 478 512kB 3.06GHz pentium 4. However, your Pentium M is a Dothan, so I'd guess it's comparable with something like a 3.2GHz 1MB Pentium 4 or perhaps faster than that?

If you only try to do 1 thing at once, around 3ish gig, if you want todo >1 thing, then... about half that :p

Having delt with the Pentium M 1.73ghz (400fsb) and 1.8ghz (533fsb) CPUs as well as a 2.4C, 2.4B, 2.8C, 2.8E and 3.2C, I'd say the 1.73 about a 2.4C for the most past and as good as 2.8C in others.

yea, like i said it can be twice as much or half as fast depending on whether you want it to do 1 thing or >1.
