So I've had my UPS beeping away at me today cause I'm drawing too much power, not really much of a PC gamer these days but I've been messing with 7 Days to Die so might be doing a bit more as the weeks go on.

I've got a PNY 580GTX and it's always been ok but having a 750 watt UPS shared between my server and PC I think the power draw of the 580 is just too much.

Is there a newer card which is around the same performance (or a bit better) but with a lower power draw?

Hard to say without a budget.

If your sticking with Nvidia then cards like the 670, 760, 770, 960 and 970 are all faster with less power draw than a 580.

Well no budget as such but really looking for something around the same performance (or a bit better) but with lower power usage. I'm aware nearly all newer cards are more power efficient however I'm not clued up enough on which is is closest the the 580gtx.

My basis for comparison is that one with similar performance but lower power requirements is also likely to be one of the cheaper options

    Probably a 2nd hand 670 then.

Ignore me, I've just made presumptions that were completely wrong.

HD7870s or HD 7850s. They had GTX 580 performance at a much lower power envelope. A second hand GTX 670 would fit the bill perfectly as would a GTX 660Ti.

Unless you're gaming all the time, it might not be the GTx 580 that's drawing all the power tbh.

I'd look at the GTX 750ti, it's barely any slower in the grand scheme of things (resolution depending) and uses no power at all really.

The 760 is a good shout too and will be quicker but that's an increase on the budget.

Moving over to AMD and you have the R7 250 and 260 range with the latter being the closer in performance.

Looking at your system, you should draw around 350w max with one of the above GPU, your PSU is overkill. Moving to an 600w or 700w platinum along with those GPUs will save you some power too and help get you some funds to replace the kit by selling that PSU off.

I'd look at the gtx 960 if buying new, it has very low power consumption and runs really cool.

I'm pretty sure it's the GFX card using the power as I can see the bars on the UPS go up the second I start a game.

I agree Andrew the PSU is overkill lol, it was from a previous build with SLI and watercooling but thought I'd keep it just in case.

I'm on my phone at moment so when I'm at PC next I'll look at the cards mentioned and see what I'm looking at money wise

i wouldn't bother with the GTX 960 when you can pick up GTX 680s for that price.
