    Hi All

    After some advice/opinions.

    I AM getting PES 2008 (so no arguments about Fifa ;)) and I have both 360 and PS3.

    Not a gamer score whore, although they're good fun.

    However my PS3 only gets used for Blu-Ray and the occasional Motorstorm sesh, so I'm thinking PS3

    Any disadvantages to getting the PS3 version? What do y'all think?

    Thanks in advance :)

    I'd wait for reviews on each and see what the pros and cons are, I typically buy for PS3 because its cheaper (imported :naughty: ) and the machine annoys me less but if something is genuinely better on 360 then get it on that.

    EDIT- looking at prices both 360 and PS3 are £29.99 so no help on that score :D

    No indeed. I think when it comes down to it, as long as I don't lose a major feature or something good, I'll be getting the PS3 version, just wanted a couple of peeps opinions :)

    I've always preferred the 360 controllers for footy games personally. You might want to consider which would be better for online multiplayer as well, if there is any difference at all.

    Aye I wont play much but I may have a dabble. Mostly I play with my mates when they're round. I quite like the PS3 controllers for footbal games, but the 360 ones have grown on me for that purpose too. The advantage I can see for the 360 version (without knowing details) would be:

    * G4m3r Po1ntZ !!111 w00t 1337ness :p
    * Bigger online community?

    The harder choice is whether to get Fifa 08 or Pro Evo this year, I started is a Fifa Fan some years ago and Switched to Pro Evo after enjoying ISS Pro on 64 and it stuck but I quite enjoyed UEFA 07 on 360 which was better than pro evo on 360 but not better than pro evo 6 on PS2, if Pro evo 2008 is as slack as the last next gen pro evo on 360 I could be making the switch.

    Its all about playing with mates over a few beers, online never comes into it really.

    Ye thing is I think Fifa 07 was far superior to previous versions but after a taster round a mates house playing '08 and then playing the PES demo, PES wins easy. As I said, it's not a PES vs Fifa debate :)

    Oops sorry, I'll veer away from that discussion, its probably Pro Evo for me too, the only difference I can recall between 360 and PS3 was sixaxis implementation for the goalie under penalties but I turn off most motion stuff if I can use sticks.

    What are the graphics like on the PS3 version? From what I've seen the 360 version looks only marginally less awful than the last version.

    Well the 360 verions look a bit better than PES 6, approaching Fifa graphics. But then I just want a playable game, not Fifa

    I though there were a load of graphical improvements on the PS3 version as I also heard that the disk would be 18 gig ?
    Althrough this may be rumour and conjecture.

    I think you can turn dives on or off. And if your Pro Evo matches get anywhere near as intense as ours, then diving in a competitive match might result in spilt blood.

    I've never played a footy game on the 360 controller, so it may be best to stick with the DualShock. I dunno really.

    It'd be interesting to see how dives work out online. That would make my piss boil if someone did that to me online.

    It should be something saved only for offline games of a drunken nature.

    Thanks mate, looks like they C+P'd the reviews and changed a bit tbh. PS3 is the one I'm going for, especially after that

    This is a bit Off-Topic but it should be intresting:
    I am pretty suprised by the fact that the two versions are so similar. Because, i ordered my PC version per mail and had to wait 2 days, which i couldn't stand so i went to the video rental shop and got the Xbox version. And i have to say that i can't stand the Xbox version. There is a _HUGE_ differences in terms of gameplay. I can't really pin it down on one or two factors, but the overall experience is just different. It feels more arcade on the Xbox than on the PC.

    Also there is this thing with the controller. It isn't really easy to press an analog and a digital button at the same time on the xbox controller. You get used to it, but it still is annoying. And since it is an important part of PES to work with the supercontrol command i would probably go for the PS3 Version if i had the choice between the two.

    My verdict

    PS3 version is pretty sweet, looks awesome. Get some slowdown very occasionally though which is a bit naff. I read both IGN reviews and it said that the 360 version has graphical glitches and the PS3 has some slowdown…not really much of a choice so I got the PS3 one so I can have a game to play on the PS3. I only notice the slowdown every so often though, it's not game-affecting

    Gameplay is good but I notice a few annoyances:

    I get really annoyed that you do a decent challenge and the ref gives a foul…I had three people sent off in 7 games at the beginning of the master league and have had at least 4 penalties against me this season, bloody silly.

    I know you can work the game to make sure you don't get a foul, but I just think that it has been made unrealistic…football is after all, a contact sport

    I started the league on the mid difficulty (amateur is it?) and now I need to put it up a couple of rungs, but there's no option to do it which is a bit bloody silly. I also didn't like the fact my team could never defend from a corner…ever

    I haven't played online either…personally I think PES is meant to be played with mates round a tele, but that's just me

    Anyway apart from the niggles, PES 2008 is a great game, better than PES 6 certainly
