I figured it was time for a fresh thread since the other has gone way off topic.

    Anywho: http://peta.org/alert/automation/AlertItem.asp?id=751

First off, oh no! SIX sea lions!? SIX!?
Second, the navy isn't going to put the sea lions in the way of serious harm if at all possible. But the sea lions/dolphins can do the work of hundreds of men in boats in half the time. As far as I'm concerned, if PETA has such a problem with this idea, they can go swim around in the ocean looking for mines so the men and women who have signed their lives to the government don't die unneccessarily.

This is obviously where PETA and I differ. I believe a human life is more important than the life of an animal. That's what the food chain is all about. It's worked for billions of years and I see no need to stop it now.

The latter sentance just about says it all, thats the real issue with groups like PETA, is that there philosiphy is completely screwed.

Imaging if man acted that way 20,000 years ago, the whole race would have been wiped out in days!!!

And i bet those Sealions get treat really well by the Navy peeps, iam sure thye wouldnt go round poking them with sticks!!

I prefer the 'other' PETA - People Eating Tasty Animals :D

    edit: LOL! Good timing ;)

BTW Humans are OMNIVORES. We're supposed to both eat meat and plants.

Hell yes, the U.S.N. would treat them a hell of a lot better than those children in sea world might do, or that nasty killer whale :eyebrow:

People @ PETA should get a life, people will kill and eat animals, if they don't like it: it's tough because i don't know about anyone else but i really enjoy a nice, fat, juicy steak...

They really need to wake up and smell the fresh air, people aren't going to destroy the worldwide business of meat production simply because it involves culling a few sentient beings who are, it must be said, treated pretty well anyway (a lot better than some people are. As was outlined on BBC news a while ago with someone campaigning about Ethiopia.) just because some bleeding-heart liberals want to free the animals. People would be offended if i stopped people drinking fruit juice because it's "killing innocent fruits who could have a better life"

I can see it now. Roaming bands of cavemen looking for a fresh...

    garden sallad? :eyebrow:

Here's an idea. A study of the avg life expectancy of avg people (eating meat and vegetables) and vegetarians... Perhaps also a random survey-type-study of the avg over-all health of both groups.
/me locks and loads to be sure the results are proper...

Actually I wish there were a tree-hugger on the boards who could come in here and explain why the top seat in the food chain should be voluntarily given up by the human race.

    Edit:
    Krikkit gave me an idea!
"Save the politicians from PETA and other useless liberal organizations!"
The poor politicians are being constantly hounded and harrased by these organizations that care about no human. These organizations would spend millions to save a tree but not one dollar to feed a starving person in Ethiopia. It's time for change!
    :D
