Hi guys... both my cars so far have been puegeots, ive had a:
    - 205 GL 1.1
    - 106 Mardi Gras 1.1

Im thinking about getting a faster car at some point, but my budget is not much so im thinking about either a bigger 106 or mabe a 306?

can anyone give me any info on these cars, which is best in your opinion and why? anything i should know etc? i like shape of the 206's etc, but i cant afford one, so ill have to stick to the smaller cars. The 205s go well enough, but i dont think they look so hot, and the interior is quite poor in my oppinion, so i think ill stear clear of another 205. ... ilso dont want somehting thats gonna rape in on insurance plz, my 106 1.1 costs me 1k already :waah: (21yr old, 1yrs no claims)

    106 vs 306 then?

    Cheers in advance guys

Firstly how much you got to spend?

You'll get a 306 cheaper than a 106 in most cases now and they still have a bigger engine..

If you could get *any* model of the two, get the 1.4 106 Quicksilver :D

Ive got a 306 1.6xs, I like it alot but given the choice again i think id have got for the Dturbo, its got a shed load of torque, im not really into tuning but some people have got enough out of a diesel turbo to put it head to head with a GTI6, Insurance is much cheaper too. Hopefully a GTI6 next for me tho :)

"Firstly how much you got to spend?" --- well i have no set budget yet, but i guess 1.5 - 2k? is that too low? my 1.1 106 only cost £800

acouple of people have mentioned the 306 d turbo... its sounding good!

...1.4 106 Quicksilver eh? ill have to look into that!

keep thos oppinions etc coming, i want to have plenty of background info b4 im making decisions!

as always cheers for your advice guys

Agreed, A very very very good car. (Much faster than the petrols)

106 feel too cheap and old imo (bad interior, old styling)

I doubt you'll get a Quicksilver for 1.5-2k, they usually go for around 2.5-4k, damn nice cars though.

imo, have you ever thought of trying a different brand? peugeots hold their value a lot more than citreon's etc.
    Just a thought :)

thing is tho, as i have only had peugeots, i dont know what other brands are like etc, i wouldnt know if they were better or worse? care to throw out some ideas of equivalents from other manufacturers? im guessing fiestas and corsas etc, although i dont really fancy either, i like the look of the peugeots.

    any thoughts welcome though!

another vote for this from me. Great cars, lovely suspension and brakes. Not amazingly quick but fast enough to get you out of trouble. The non turbo deisels are ok but just too slow especially for the first 15 minutes.

Wow, i really like the shape of tha car, those vents on the side look hardcore! ....... not like these are in my price range tho!

im edging towards the 306 Diesel turbo, but a couple of people said "Not amazingly quick but fast enough to get you out of trouble" do i read this as "not that quick"??

    cheers guys

I'm not a fan of european cars so, i can't really suggest, but they're never too bad, my mates got one.
As far as things are going, go for the 306TD.
I think people are saying its not a sports car quick, but its not corsa slow :D

the DTurbo is quick - almost as fast as the GTi-6 through the gears...shedloads of torque.

    Very good combos, Rich.

Would rather have one in a 306 though... Gotta love that passive rear end.
