    Ive just ripped (Yes Ripped :rock: ) this PSU out of an old Amstrad 386/Megadrive combo (Remeber Them?) well its a 65w psu with a 2a power output on the 12+ feed and 7.5a on the 5+ feed and 1a on the poweroutlet for the moitor, and with 1 molex, 1 floppy and the standard AT connectors, It has a monitor power output as well.

    What I wan't to know is if this will be ok for powering 5 12v fans, The psu has its own 40mm fan bult in.

    The PSU dimensions are 7'1/2' x 2'1/2 x 2'1/2 so its very small, I was thinking about fitting it at the bottom of my case and using my existing psu's montior output to power it then use the monitor output on the amstrad psu to power my monitor.

    Whats cool about this psu is it has a 10sec delay at powering down which is nice.

    and now for some pics...

    Any help would be welcome.

    Regards,

    Depends on the fans.

    5 might be pushing it. Just add up the fan currents though, and see if you come in below 2A.

    And hey, if you fry it....

    Would there be a way to adjust that 10-second delay? If there was, then that would be a better alternative for that Powerdown Protector that PCMODS is selling.

    Just took it apart and it seem's that it can't be adjusted.

    On another note ive just ripped another PSU out of an old extrenal apple drive box it's more slimmer than tha amstrad PSU but is only rated at 1.5a on the 12+ feed.

    2x12V = 24W

    ..

    Should be fine for 5 ordinary fans ... or 2 80mm delta screamers ... or (just and no more) one 190CFM 120MM b34st.
