I'm seriously thinking of getting the P600S for my next build and was perusing the manual when I came across the following on page 13 Is the manual saying that even if there are fans installed at the top of the case, that the airflow cover for the top of the case should be fitted? Surely that'd block the exhaust flow at the top? A piccie of the fan mounting plate at the top of the case is shown below the above text with two positions marked A and B - what are they meant to indicate? Can any P600S owners or anyone with a better grasp of understanding than me please enlighten me?
Oooh I can actually help as I have this case. Oh, wait @Bloody_Pete has hit the nail on the head. Exactly that - you cover ports which then don't obstruct fans to stop air recirculating. If you have the top on the case (Top Silent Cover) then the airflow path is then backwards under the top of the case and it exhausts from the back - if you didn't have the airflow covers installed, there'd be nothing stopping the hot air from just recirculating back down into the case itself. Any other questions, feel free to ask away. I absolutely love the case by the way
Thanks, both you and @Bloody_Pete I'm deciding between the P600S, Fractal Design R7 and Corsair 4000D Airflow, the latter because it's a more compact case though it's short on features like a PWM hub and it's limited to just 2x3.5" HDDs and has a glass side panel, which I'm not really interested in. OTOH, the R7 and P600 both offer far more flexibility but I love the "dual personality" aspect of the P600 in that it can be a silent case or an airflow case just by removing a few panels, plus although it's a big case, it's quite a bit less deep than the R7 and much less deep than my 10 year old Antec P193 so it'll probably be my choice. I didn't realise that the top fans could exhaust to the rear of the case with the Top Silent Cover cover on, so that's good news, though it's unlikely that I'd install anything in the roof, especially as I'll probably go for an air cooler rather than water cooler. How was your build with the P600? Is there anything worth bearing in mind (other than CPU cooler height) with regard to component choice?
Thanks, I've just looked at the manual again and see that the airflow covers are distinct from the Top Silent Cover, which explains it. The question now is, do I go for the glass or metal side panel? I'm not bothered about RGB and lighting and all that, though having glass will enable me to see sooner if anything's going wrong inside the case.
The top of a massive heat sink and a long GPU card isn't very interesting How tough is glass though? A metal side panel will be less delicate than said glass.
Ish. It'll still bend if force is applied. In some ways the toughened glass is stronger, its just brittle, so it fails violently...
I run 2 140mm fans on front as intakes, 2 140mm on top as intakes and a 140mm on rear as outake works well for me as I've got upgraded fan filters to stop the dust. Fitted to my phantek evolv x.
So that's a positive pressure airflow? I note the P600S doesn't have a filter for the top, are you saying your case does have top filters? Can you run three 140mm fans at the front? The manual says it's possible but I've seen a comment from an owner saying only a 120mm fan will fit along with the two 140mm ones.
