I have found an LCD its a philips model that uses the HD44780 controller. I think its a 2x16 model but im not sure. I need to find a data sheet for it but havent had any luck yet.

Firstly, where is a good place to look for a data sheet?

Secondly, It only has 14 connectors so i assume there is no backlight, would it be ok to use cat5 cable (x2 of course) and how long should i limit the length of the cable to?

    TIA

Have you any idea of the model number for the LCD, whats printer on the back of the circuit board ?

How long a lead do you need 2m is normally not a problem

OK sorry for the delay in the reply, i have not had the LCD to hand, I took some photos but they didnt come out very well at all lol.

Anyway, Ill take a look at that link thanks AtomicWarMonkey, And yes bomberman rocks (well it did once)

Prankster - There are no markings on the screen or PCB that would sugest what kind of screen it is, It just looks like its a 2*16 because of the size of it.

vdub - There are no markings on the back except the markings on the controller chip (4a3 - HD44780A00 - Japan) and the Philips logo thats etched into the PCB. On the front there are 2 numbers printed on the edge of the PCB. They are, LPM3575-1 and QJK413H.
