stonedsurd, that BMW one is close to being lovely. For me the composition seems a little awkward. The "3.0" is too close to the left. I think if the badges were a bit further in from the side and a bit lower down it would work better. I hope that was constructive rather than nitpicky
Definitely constructive. The reason it's framed like that is because I wanted to exclude the shutlines. Bloody BMW and their meandering panel gaps. Should I post another one with the gaps left in?
I'd be interested to see a crop with the panel gap in stonedsurd Took a few shots at Manchester's Museum of Science and Industry (MOSI) tonight, I'll post a few up over the next few days. Six Nine Twelve by jaikdean, on Flickr
Love that shot Nihilist. Will find the uncropped version of the BMW and post it. Like MBM, I happened upon an Aston Martin as well, except it was the middle of the night and very dark and... enough whinging, here's the pics. (click for big)
Agreed, the third is my favourite there, although without the post reflection, 1 looks great Proper brochure shot. I'm back in wales for easter, so what better things to take pics of than sheep {param} or their skulls... {param} It turns out I haven't got enough zoom to get nice pictures of lambs without getting too close... This was the one exception - he was too caught up watching my cat {param}
I wasn't originally going to do this as B&W, but it works so much better than the original colour version I did. Sian J by JazzXP, on Flickr
Thanks Cheers, I'm working on giving the post the boot. Learning PS from scratch is a bit of a pain, though I like this a lot except for the white bar on the bottom right.
I know what you mean It would've been nice if I could've set up a black backdrop too. I was tempted to 'shop out most of the background clutter but I have a bit of an aversion to doing that much work in post.
Shopping out the bar would be acceptable though? It's not a drastic change. It's took me nearly a year to get to a decent level. Incredible software when you finally do learn how to use it though, best use of a student discount other than windows 7.
Love this. Dunno why, but there's something unsettling about it... but it makes it powerful whatever it is. Maybe it's the age of the model (I've no idea how old, but she looks very young.. a child in fact) vs. the kind of adult/knowing pose. There's something a bit Sally Mann about it. It made me stop and think.. anything that does that is a great shot, and a nice relief from all the sunsets and stuff.
Yeah, she looks very young doesn't she. She turned 18 last November. Glamour style shots in my Flickr stream, but I went a bit overboard with the lighting in those. Will be shooting her again in the future too (probably in a couple of months). Glad you like it. You won't get many sunsets from me as I'm pretty ordinary at taking landscapes.
