Love the shots, I really do. The car is an absolute beaut! Quick question though, do you use the autofocus for shots like this or manual?
Always continuous AF for moving subjects. There's no way you'd be able to manually focus quick enough on a car moving at that speed, let alone maintain focus as it's moving.
Also true, yes. It was doing an easy 80mph (note how other cars moving in the same direction are nevertheless blurred). My Tamron doesn't like continuous AF though, so I just one shot AF and get acceptable results.
Some toys at the beach: Toys by angad84, on Flickr I'm posting this large because as a panorama, it would look really shabby if it was only 640px wide You can click through to see it 13000px wide! The Last Rays of the Sun by angad84, on Flickr They're... crap. But they're what I got uploaded today. Working on a HUGE bunch of shots I did for my friends and roommates. Hopefully get some good ones from there.
Yeah, I really like it too, just can't put my finger on what it is I really like about it, but its a loverly shot. Was trying to replicate a portrait I'd seen online, which was a low light portrait with bokeh highlights on the dress done with freelensing, but trying to use a brighter setup. Not completely happy with it, think the low light helps hide the focus issues a lot better than mine. Louise 1 freelense by whisperwolf, on Flickr
Looked up freelnsing - seems like an interesting technique. Going to give it a shot along with the Brenizer technique when I have some time and a person willing to pose for me. Your shot's great btw. I don't know what you wanted it to look like but I like it nonetheless.
I love the lighting in this one. Needs just a touch (not much) of fill on the top of the head (so the glasses aren't totally dark on that top edge) and it'd be perfect I reckon.
Thanks Jazz. I don't know how to get fill on just a part of the picture. When I mess with it in Camera Raw or LR3, it looks like crap Last Friday the United Arab Society put on a 'culture show' and a lot of my friends were either performing or organizing, so I was sort of shanghaied into going. It turned out to be great, I met loads of new people, ate great food and had a chance to try something new photographically. What the f**k? I just got done learning tilt-shift fakery and you upload this? Maybe there is a God and he's a fan of coincidence. Nice shot
Went to Helsinki just to see and experience the IIHF-world champion 2011-celebration. Haven't had time to check all the photos I took, but I just came across this one which I'm really happy about: That's 100k people on the background, which is a LOT in Finland...
