Y'see, now I want to know what he's got in the frame. Either that's an awesome macro he's lining up or he's got 5" of wood.
Some lichen, a knot and some patterns in the bark on the fallen log. I was using a 180mm lens (approx 45mm in 35mm terms if you crop the 35mm frame from 3:2 to 5:4) with the subject at life size on the ground glass/film. Here's a couple more pictures: This is the rough composition scrapbooked on my E-PL1, the aim was to get all of the top in focus. This shows some of the movements (the front standard had tilt, rise, swing and shift, while the rear standard had swing and tilt - quite a step up from the small movements I can make on a tilt-shift lens) and bellows extension I was using and I've highlighted the rough area I was photographing. Typically, the extension should be the same as the focal length to focus on infinity (so 180mm in this case) and you extend further to focus closer - at 360mm bellows extension, I've got life size on the film with the 180mm lens. However, as you extend the bellows, you have to factor light loss in (at 2xFL, you typically need an extra stop of light) and then if you're using an emulsion/film that suffers from reciprocity failure (where it gets less sensitive the longer you leave the shutter open) you also have to factor that in as well. With that in mind, I just hope I got the exposure calculation right on this...
Like I said in the other thread, none of that tilt-shi(f)t stuff anymore. Handsome movements you've got there Be sure to post the actual results of this photo once you get it developed.
We got our first dog; Can't say which I prefer, the bw or the colour. I'm leaning towards the colour, looks 'warmer'
Color for me. And gawrsh, he's a cutie. A number of my friends graduated this weekend, here's a pair of shots from Saturday. The Graduate by angad84, on Flickr Happy To Be Done by angad84, on Flickr
I keep trying to get a photo to add to this collection.... I kinda suck at photos so i thought this would be good as I've been to blackpool this weekend and did the sealife centre
Yep, definitely colour. Also, I'm really liking that first shot stoned. Upton_Towans_Pano by silverfish51, on Flickr
Thanks Silver I really like yours, post it larger! I saw it the orig on Flickr but posting large/orig will just make life easier for folks on here.
I've been making quite a few barley images recently as part of a new project - I just love the textures and whispiness of it. Here's the first in the series: Barley 1 by TimSmalley, on Flickr
I've been constructing a DIY tilt shift/ freelense lens from a Mamiya 645 55mm f/2.8 lens, a Bicycle inner tube, jubilee clips, cable ties and a 52mm reverse lens mount, and this is one of the first test shots. Louise 3 by whisperwolf, on Flickr and something a bit different from what I normally do, probably has way to much Photoshop done to it really, but it was an idea I had and wanted to at least try it, still undecided if it works.
