Ah...didn't know you focused manually, just that liveview uses a different approach to autofocus than errr..whatchacallit viewfinder-view. But I suspect both types of autofocus would struggle with that kind of backlight.

Got an INCREDIBLE deal on Gumtree today - some guy in my city was selling a high quality weights bench with a 135kg set of olympic weights (complete with 7ft bar). This kit would normally cost about £300 and I picked up the lot for £100
Finally beginning to get the pics from my trip to new york sorted out and uploaded. This batch is from the train journey to and from New York (with the home port being LA). Silver, this shot is great! One small suggestion - Would it have been possible to make this composition from a few steps to the right, isolating the lighthouse island from the row of rock in front of it?
I did think of that, unfortunately going right enough to isolate the lighthouse drops you down and introduces more rocks. Anyways, I really need to find another place on the north coast to shoot, this just happens to be the closest point on the shore with rocks to the flat.

I think it would have worked better with a deeper depth of field so that the nose was also in focus. Right now it's a bit distracting because it's so out of focus. Manhattan By Night by angad84, on Flickr The Financial Capital of the World by angad84, on Flickr Ducati 848 Evo by angad84, on Flickr
I'll have to disaggree with you there my good man, in that while it may be technically correct to have the nose in focus, it is more so to have the eyes in focus if something has to be chosen of the two. Anyway, I was playing around with my 105 macro more than anything else.
