Today had a gig shooting some jewelry. On the way back was stuck in quite a bit of traffic, so just started snapping photos of people. Here are two I liked:

I'm intrigued by these. I love the "Portrait of a Stranger", but whas is going on with the bokeh? The EXIF suggests you shot at 105mm (what lens btw?) and f/3.5, but the background blur looks like it was shot at a much wider aperture. Is there some post processing going on there? Also both this shot and particularly "Streets of New York" show a lot more grain than I'd expect at ISO 640. Unless perhaps the shots are cropped down to their ~7MP from the full 18MP on the 7D? But even then I'd expect less grain than this - to my eye these shots look like ISO 3200+. I like the effect but just curious how it came about.

That really reminds me of the Family Guy National Geographic special on Fire Trucks..

Many luls were had. Amazing photos though. Although the dress sense on the group of people does cause me a little concern though.

 

Hey, beginner after some tips here!

Beginner giving a beginner tips here, but I like it.. I was originally going to say it needed to be a little darker on the B&W.. but after having looked at it again it seems to suit the photo.. drags your attention straight to the cat rather than anything that may be lingering in the background.

 

That's really nice, the only thing I would say is that the focus seems to be slightly off (might be the small image). Generally I think you want to focus so the eyes are sharp . Other than that it's really, really nice!

Thanks for the feedback on the cat image (Oscar). It looks quite bright because there is a window in the background. It was a bit tricky to shoot.

I will try to get some better focus around the eyes next time, the poor cat is bored of my new hobby.
