I'm having a wee flick back through this thread, looking at the photos that I missed while I was away. Came across this one and just about laid a brick - She looks exactly like a friend of mine...... To the point that I have to ask where this was taken? For your other one, it's quite a good shot, and the hazing makes the photo a bit better from my point of view. It makes the photo look a lot older, like it's an image of a summer from many years ago. Possibly makes the shot. Cheers Enterobsidian
First day with my first DSLR How can I improve? Also, how do you guys link from Flickr? I can't figure it out...
you could use a faster shutter speed on the last one, but apart from that, they aren't bad at all for a first day with an SLR. If you right click in Flickr and select a reasonable size, then right click on the photo you can get the code for the image. If you want to get the name underneath, there is an option to embed the code somewhere........ Hope this helps Enterobsidian

Just a quick shoot Sunday with a model I've wanted to work with for ages. FIzzy by Kiteninja (Morgan Lee), on Flickr
MDK.... amazing lighting/composition shot but what the heck is with the expression. I personally find the lower lip so sad and disturbing. I feel I'm overposting in this forum (been updating flickr like 3-4 times a day) so I'll just post two photos. Got back to NY and went to Brooklyn. Been having amazing clouds here on the East Coast. Looking good so far gents, kep up the good work. Thought so, you're no where near me, but it's freaky everytime I look at that photo. I just see one of my friends in it. The shot is very high quality othewise. Cheers Enterobsidian
That is her serious concentration face , lighting wise was just playing around with my new toy now i've finnaly been able to use it . Nice shots dude those skys are awesome
nothing special, just showing off the extension tubes are there in place of 35mm, the prime was busy doing its job on the camera. will be selling 55-200mm, and storing 18-55mm kit lens. my 3 lens setup would be: -Nikkor 18-200mm f3.5-5.6G IF-ED VRII super zoom day time walkabout lens -Nikkor 35mm f1.8G prime low light and bokeh lens -Sigma 12-24mm EX DG ultra wide angle landscape and architecture lens (yes, that's a Sigma DG lens, holding record for widest rectangular full frame lens, hopefully should retain its resale value quite well)
Is it just me who thinks her right eye looks bigger (bigger iris?)? To me it looks like she has a lazy eye, but it could just be the lighting?
I think its down to the right being slightly further away from the camera maybe other shots there the same size.
The flash refelection probably didn't help either. A lot of pro snappers use ring flashes to try and prevent this, as well as illuminate the face better. If I'm reading the picture right, the camera has been put into portrait and the onboard flash has been used, along with another flash which is remote to the camera. MDK - did you use red eye reduction? Wonder if her eye reacts slightly slower to it than the other. It's still a good shot of her though. I like the composition and the exposure seems spot on. No onboard flash has been used or red eye reduction, its just a simple butterfly set up with strip box below for fill & a 70cm BD on a boom as the key light, due to the tilt of her head and the fact its boomed quite high so only the bottom edge of the dish is being used to light it distorts the catchlight.
