Great shot! , love the post work. The other shots in the set look great too. I've always wanted to do a bit of urban exploration myself. Abandoned, dilapidated buildings are just so interesting.
I was looking through some photos on my phone and came across these two from a few months ago and touched them up a bit. Melbourne Side Street by JasonBottin, on Flickr Melbourne Side Street by JasonBottin, on Flickr I love the first one, the majority of the fade on the left hand side was natural as well, I just touched it up a bit and brought out the colours. The second was really pale as well, just did some vibrance and saturation tweaks to bring out the colour.
Godrevy_Star_Pan by silverfish51, on Flickr So I made this pan last winter, but for some reason never got round to uploading it.
Ahhh, I know that street. It's off the Bourke St Mall yes? Did you check out Hosier Lane too? (between Flinders St & Flinders lane near "The Forum") Great capture of the graffiti too.
Yes JazzXP that's the one. I have been to Hosier Lane as well, got a print of the graffiti framed on my wall at home.
Awesome work everyone! Daaamn! Tennisball: Love the boy and the shoe shots! Lewis*b: A stunner of an image. The boy 4rm oz: The first one works nice because of the perspective. Love the graffiti, but the second one does not have a focus point or anything to stop the eye. So it's meh for me as the blue face it's too out of the frame/ not composed enough. Silver!!!! DAAAAMNNNN!!!! Amazing! You should edit this photo though. It's an awesome capture, but two three curves adjustment layers and then it's a WINNER IMAGE. Damn I'm jealous. Would tell us a bit how you came about taking this photo? Thanks for the feedback Mod Wannabe, yeah your right, the second pic doesn't really have a focus, I was more drawn in by the colours more than anything else.
Godrevy_Star_Pan_Colour_Correct by silverfish51, on Flickr Okay, tried messing about with curves and stuff. This was actually the second time out to the lighthouse last winter. On the first trip, I walked from my place to the other side of Red River, which took about an hour. While the sky was fairly clear, it was ridiculously windy. Enough to blow spray from the breaking waves up over the clifftop. I set up my old aluminium tripod on the clifftop (after nearly walking straight off the edge a couple of times) but had a lot of problems with the wind straight up blowing it over, even with the camera bag used as a weight. I bought a Manfrotto 290 with an 804RC2 pan tilt head and tried again the next clear night, taking the motorbike this time. The math from here was 300/focal length, so the camera settings were: 18mm f2.8 15 seconds ISO1600 Focus Infinity This is three shots, with the lighthouse in frame for each of them (to give Photoshop a target for the photomerge.) Adjusted the first on in Camera RAW and saved the settings as a preset, lens corrected and rotated each to be level then saved as a TIFF for the merge.
Took a wander round town with my old SLR and had a go at developing the film my self. I was so pleased with my self when there was images on the film, ridiculous really. 1. Some really nice snaps in here, Silver's is quite inspiring, living near dark countryside and having just dipped into dSLR land.
