Im trying my hand at 'walkabout' photography. As some of you already know, the main stuff that I do is sports usually with big long primes, so having such a small lens and being able to shoot so wide really does feel alien to me.

Il be trying to improve over the next few months (before the racing season kicks off again!)

Heres one from my wander today.

Something a little different for me. Very heavily pregnant... at 8 1/2 months. So yeah, was scared she was going to drop it on the shoot! Haha

    OH

    MY

    GOD! :jawdrop:

This is the hottest thing I've seen all week, by a LONG shot!

I got ambitions today and finally edited the shipwreck video we shot in California back in October (along with some from last year). The editing is a pain, but the waiting is about enough to drive me about the bend. For every minute of video it takes about 5 minutes to import it, so I end up waiting an hour or more for a video that I will use maybe 30 seconds out of in the finished film. Once the editing is finished it's ANOTHER conversion process to finalize it into one file so I can upload it. after 2 1/2 hours it's 40% complete, and this is a 16 minute video we're talking about here :wallbash:

TL;DR version: my computer is slow and I'm whining about it.

EDIT: 5 hours and we're at 96%. FML

I love the mood you've created here, and the composition and processing really draw the eye right to the lonely bench. Well done.

Since trains seem to be an in thing right now, I thought I'd share some of my lessons earned from years of chasing them.

The most dramatic train shots (IMHO) are 3/4 views where the lead locomotive is about 2/3 of the way through the frame. The very best shots are when you can position yourself on the outside of a curve and slightly above the train, but this isn't always possible.

Bonus points for things like bridges, tunnels, etc etc.

Here are some of my better ones from previous years that (hopefully) illustrate the point.

Thanks for the feedback SM! Means a great deal to me seeing as its not my usual 'style' so to speak.

Im hoping to get some time of over xmas so that i can get out with the camera again. Im hoping to research some awesome views in west sussex so I can practice some landscape.
