Darn it... I had to reply... couldn't resist the temptation :)

35L is the most precise and simple way to refer to that particular lens.
I think everyone agrees that people boasting about their very expensive equipment being yadda yadda which is sooo much better than yiddi yiddi are rather annoying.

This wasn't a case of such though.

    Quod erat demonstrandum.

Do you feel like snipping away your rant? (which would fit better in a new thread along with this reply ;) )
All meant in the best of intents.

Never saw anyone get into a tizzy over the letter 'L' before. It is the quickest way to refer to the Canon 35/1.4 L--I hope you're not too upset over it...certainly was not my intention to upset people.

Great headshots Vers. What aperture were they shot at? the DOF looks very thin.

Thanks. The first was shot with the Sigma 150 at f/3.5 and the second with the 100-400+1.4x at f/9.

Don't worry about it lol. It was just a minor rant for all the newbies out there who say it's the L as if they would secret masturbate to the letter if they could :p

Hey at least I don't put a little yellow N (as opposed to an L) before labelling my gear :thumb:

Is it just me, or is there a halo from too much pp on that car shot PBear?

I don't put a 'C' before mine either--I put an 'L' or 'EF-S', like you put a 'D' or 'AF-S', afterwords. This is standard practice when it comes to Canon L-grade lenses. Canon labels every L lens box with a red L, and so that is where it is derived. In any case I don't see what all the whining is about nor do I see any reason to troll over it--it is only a letter.

    Thanks :thumb:

Was crossing the bridge and a gap in the cars opened up and it was a porsche 911 coming towards me, a favourite. Had split seconds to setup. Another moment in photography that really gets you excited about a record of light that you just transfered into a picture.

    @Greg

Can you explain what you mean by the Halo effect, not heard that term before??

PBear I think he refers to it seeming like there is an area around the car that seems unnaturally light.
I would have to say that I think the shot balances nicely on the degree of post processing.

I reckon it has been processed and lightened in strategic places? Along with a color gradient (gel) on top?

If this is straight from camera... then :jawdrop:
