Interesting concept. I think the biggest issue for me is that it lacks the ambience one would expect from this type of photography. It looks as though you managed to capture light trails in broad daylight! What was your exposure on this shot? Maybe try cutting it in half or so? Here's an example of what I'm talking about:

The entire place was brightly lit. That's the trouble, really. When it gets really dark, the traffic dries up. When there's traffic, there's too many lights.

Now this is hot stuff :thumb:

Now that is one nice picture.
What "settings" did you use for this shot?

Taken at west Midlands Safari Park last Thursday:

^^Despite the slight blur in this shot (my monopod broke a few minutes earlier), I still really like it.

Thanks, I really like this shot... I didn't make it down to any airshows this year! :(

Well, I felt like giving the 50D a bash, to see what it could do.

    ... it's like a machine-gun!

Hehe, the 5D2 isn't a great airshow camera (slow burst, lack of crop factor and only one cross-type AF point)... really need to get a TC and an xxD (7D is the dream) body. Nice shot :)

It certainly is. Filled my card right up today, and there weren't even too many planes about.
    Thanks!
    Love this one :thumb:
You guys get towed gliders and the Red Arrows? All we got was a bunch of warbirds, some old biplanes and one (yes, just one) Super Hornet.

I'm not complaining though - it's been long enough since my last 'show that the howl of the F414s was enough to send me into a trembling fit of aural ecstasy.

Anyway, here's a handful from me while I get the airshow pics sorted, edited and uploaded:

Yep, we had a glider doing aerobatics (on day one, no explanation for the lack of aerobatics on day two), the Red Arrows, some wingwalkers, and a big old Lancaster bomber...

It's a shame the skies were mostly grey and overcast though. I didn't stay to the end of the second day either, as it became mostly a"seen it last year" session, so I don't know if the Eurofighter Typhoon made an appearance.

Judging by the lack of noise in the distance (I live within earshot of the airshow), I'd say it didn't turn up this year.

Ooh pretty pretty bomber. Do Stirlings ever fly around? My great grandfather flew em in the second war and I'd love to see them sometime in my life, since I've already seen the other type he flew (Hurricane).

That's all we get at the airshow, in the way of WW2 aircraft... a Spitfire, a Hurricane, and a Lancaster. :sigh:
