Was driving around on the North Shore by where I live and saw a sign for Medieval Fair, so decided to stop by. This is actually a guy and his lady.... sure an interesting way to treat his lady Shattering lance by Neo - nimajus, on Flickr
Bit the bullet yesterday : IMG00089-20100923-1759 by Ligoman17, on Flickr September marks the one year anniversary of my foray into digital photography. Maybe a bit early for such an investment, but I'm 100% sure I'll be sticking with photography in the long-term. I also had to consider, 1) that I'm leaving for the vacation of a lifetime tomorrow; and 2) I planned to make the jump to full frame someday anyway. It just made sense to have the camera for this trip. I won't reveal details now, but I'm very excited and will post pictures upon my return to the States. I haven't done much in the way of IQ tests yet, as I've been getting used to the subtle differences in menu setup and operation between the 5D and my old camera (500D). I'm shocked and amazed that the 500D feels and looks like a toy next to this thing! Off to pack...
Looks quite nice. Congratulations. That's a beastie Here's a pair from me. Bird outside my balcony: Trying to work on shooting people (with cameras, not guns, hurr hurr): (click for big)
That is an absolutely fantastic action shot. My only issue is that the biplane is a little distracting.
This photo unfortunately weren't taken today, but it's one of my favorites: Pentax ist*D with 300mm F 4.0 sigma lens.
I'm ashamed to say this is one of the first few photos that I've taken with my 70-200VRII. Oh well. Eventually I'll get to use it for something more interesting. Very minor sharpening on the above crop; Sharpened crop below;
That's pretty sharp man. Nothing special today - just messing about, bored and not motivated at all: (clicky for biggy)
That could be such a designer shot, but you need to make the lamp's white cover to stand more from the background I'm looking forward for the re-shoot Pleeeesseee?

This one's nice. I was shooting all manual. If I used Av, it would make the lamp dark and the background almost brown (it's a pale brown wall - sand colored). Anyway, lighting's almost right today, so I'll try again with the lamp on-off thing. EDIT: All right, edited the first picture in LR3, and tried again with the on-off. Whatcha think?
I like the ON shot, but it looses all detail form the lamp's cover shape. HDR perhaps? You can go very detailed on those shiny lamps, here's the sample with notoriously bright halogen lamp.
That's really cool I think it's easier on a dark background and/or in the dark - because your subject is already separated from the background. This was shot in the middle of the day with natural light from the windows. I'm rather happy with the on-off shot, though.
