Well, if you can call drilling out 6 rivets modding then....well that. Just to remove the lower drive cage. Takes 5 seconds. Then you get some XSPC 80-120mm adaptor mounts from Specialtech (or for free from me, as I have some spare - thanks to 23RO_UK) and attach them to the 140mm fans at the front of the case to hold the Rad in place. Not easy to see but I'm also using two zip ties to hold it in place. The XTX is 60mm thick and there is ample space in the front there as you can see. JJ! Yes indeed! They are truly excellent radiators. Keeping my SLI'd 480 GTXs under 65C with Furkmark and Prime 95 running!
I think your cables could do with a bit of sorting at the back. And that big 20mm fan strapped to the drive bays is a bit of an eyesore too.
I know. So much effort The big fan you do not see once the side panel is on. The corsair fans are a bit loud, so I need that fan otherwise my graphics card gets a bit warm in summer, I don't need it for the winter though. Once I get my SSD I will have a BIG cleanup.
I figure I'll post up my re-cable tidy after installing a shiny new SSD. Might not be obvious but there's an extra 120cm of cable extensions there. Decent job, methinks.
To be honest, I was talking about both of you guys Probably just me, but it seems like a waste of space?
I love the way that in that Silverstone Case; everyone winds up just mouting the SSD's by bolting them down with double-sided tape or sticking them behind the rear-panel or something.
Well there is actually 2.5" mounting holes on the floor of the case. But I'm not sure if you are serious or not
Both. I've wound up mounting an SSD using a couple of squares of double-sided sticky foam. (It was an old ThermalTake Xasar, I figured that it wouldn't be shifted much, so the foam would do), but I often see SSD's just lying against back-panels and such, held in place by nothing but friction and prayer. That said; Mine is mounted, mounted stupidly, but mounted. Silverstone didn't think their SSD bracket all the way through. it's the wrong way up, so the lip of the drive-cage means a normal power cable can't reach it. I've had to mangle a spare molex - sata extention cable to get power to it. It only works because the cables are thinner than i'd like, anything thicker and it'd warp the connector on the SSD itself.
I had the same problem, if the SSD mount was made so it had the SSD connectors facing down I wouldn't have had to use an annoying little molex to sata connector.
Yup. It's good for keeping the good-looking side of the SSD facing up, but it's a pain in the ass to make a connection to.
I must admit, I am contemplating just hiding it out of sight behind the motherboard with some velcro.
