I was taking the dog for a walk, when I heard some squeaking from somewhere above me. 'Twas a young squirrel writhing around on the end of a branch - so much so that it fell off. 'Don't move, I'm fetching my camera' I told it, as it had only fallen nine or ten feet and so seemed unhurt, if surprised.
So I returned, camera at the ready, dog straining at the lead.

As it moved out onto the towpath, I was undecided, for if I picked it up, sod's law said I'd have a Whitely moment - blood, pain and a flailing bundle of fur wanting a finger as a souvenir.

Of course, it was as tame as anything...

    Brilliant pics

But seeing the state he's in... I'd have risked picking the wee fella up too, and taking him to a vet, to get him checked over.
Apart from the facial blood... it looks like he's damaged his left arm in the fall, and there could easily have been more internal damage as well?

Did you take him with you?

But that's great 'on the spot' photography anyways :thumb:

You've just about turned me into a blubbering girl, was he OK afterwards?

It should be fine, other than a bit of disorientation - it fell into the grass, not the path and was placed by the tree it fell from by the bloke it climbed up.

As for taking it to the vet, IIRC, as greys are classed as vermin, they're not allowed to release them, and we have enough furry things as it is.

    I wished it luck anyway.

    Nice pics.

    I suspect its ok.
I thought it might have damaged it's leg as well looking at the way it was hanging it, but it swaps arms.

Still, surprising it let you pick it up and stuff!
    Cool pics! :)

If it had been worse off, I would have done - there were plenty of biggish branches about.
