Well I finally got Adobe Photoshop CS2 (v9)

Although it has some great new features such as:
    • Vanishing Point
    • Image Warp
    • Advanced Noise Reduction
    • Spot Healing Brush
    • 1 Click red eye correction

and more new features that are keeping up with todays digital technology.

However one new feature left me dissapointed.
It's Adobe Bridge. File Browser that is supposed to be very great (which it is if you have 2gigs of memory). Bridge was using 90-130 Megs of Memory depending on the folder you'd open!!! Also huge percentage of CPU power.

I'll dink around with settings and maybe fix this problem, but after "out of the box" installation this is what I found.

Anyone interested in sharing their CS2 experience? :naughty:

I bet it still takes ages to startup also.
Just like all the other products they make :wallbash:

I wouldn't say that 3 or 4 seconds is bad considering the power of the application. :eyebrow:

Well although it is powerfull, I don't think that loading full quality picture thumbnails is very smart. Maybe if they would ship CS2 with additional stick of memory :D

its not entirely unreasonable that photoshop likes 2GB of ram and equally monstrous processor(s)

people who are really using it to its full extent (ie profesionally, and adobe is hardly trying to cater with the average consumer with a such a costly package) would really have that anyway.

CS2 is x64 compatible too, right? And multithreaded for some of the rendering effects?

Yeah I understand what you're saying. I'm just saying what I don't like too much. I just found out that it leaves huge cache files in your picture folders. 15megs file for 155pictures (average 600 KB). So about 1meg of cache per 10 pretty low quality images.

Smart Objects, Layer select options, and Vanishing points ARE AWESOME

I'm cheap (DUH) so I don't have 64bit CPU, but I am sure it is compatible.

now farming out the processor intensive tasks would be a bit nice, got a xeon here that is doing SFA 99% of the time

technically speaking, i dont think anyone on this forum has a 64bit cpu ;)

And once again, thank you for correction, ...I think CS2 is 64bit compatible, thus it should work on x64 cpus...

And technically speaking, half the forum would have a 16bit CPU by the same logic.

I still prefer PS7 to CS (for what I do they're basically the same, and CS has some REALLY wierd keyboard shortcuts that drive me nuts... like Alt+F4 isn't close :eyebrow: I may check it out though.

In CS you could edit and create your own keyboard shortcuts, now in CS2 you can even edit and cutomize your menus.

    :shifty:

Ill have to read up and see if it's multithreaded and/or x64 use-able too.

It loads quicker than PS7 for me. It looks pretty nice so far.

    How?

Got it... not really different except for bridge instead of file broswer. Takes hella longer to load (just bridge vs f.b.) and for what I do, basically identical. I think of of 7, cs and cs2 I've found CS the most convenient but only because I got used to it the most.

    Go to Edit>Keyboard Shortcuts (Alt+Shift+Ctrl+K) or Edit>Menus (Alt+Shift+Ctrl+M)

Frankly, I don't see how Adobe can justify charging $600 for a piece of software. I could buy a decent computer for that much. I've got the 30-day trial of CS, however it seems that my clock is...erm...broken. :worried:
