I bought CS legit about 4 months ago... man I hope I'm entitled to some upgrade discount!

And when did F>A become so bad for file save as? I think that's the onle I dislike the most....
    PS7: F>A
    PS8: F>V
    (alt+f>a/alt+f>v)

Fortunately I bought it at work, so it came out of office budget, not mine :p (Just wish I could take it home)

Adobe sells the full version for $599 and the upgrade for $149. Still more expensive than any software I've ever paid for. :blah:

Who cares about Photoshop when the new version of Illustrator is sooooooooo sexy?

    :D

Vanishing Point and Image Warp are the only updates that seem remotely interesting.

Adobe Bridge looks like a resource hog.

I think they've definitely concentrated more on Illustrator this time around with such vast changes like Live Trace and Live Paint. Major, MAJOR changes to the vector field here.

    Nope :/

I don't think CS2 (as in, the whole thing) gets released officially for a week or so yet.

They probably do that to compensate for the piracy. I mean look at dreamweaver, that's like $3000. Same deal. The three most expensive (read: overpriced) pieces of software (excl massive server licences and whatnot) I can think of are probably the three most pirated: the two previous and of course XP Pro.

If you're using Photoshop alot then layer management and handling became much better.

As for the prices this is really not the most expensive/overpriced piece of software. I mean look at 3D software?! 3D Max, Vue products and so on. They all cost a fortune (between you can buy UT 2k4 game and you will get quite advanced 3d creation tools for $40)

When paying for Adobe products you get the satisfaction of participating in adobe buying macromedia process. :hehe:

Then you always can download Gimp.

Ugghh... gimp was so bad to get used to after coming from Photoshop...

CS2 has a bit of nice features. Overall they've sped it up a bit. Macworld has a nice writeup about it.

There is an addon for Gimp that makes Gimp menus and buttons just like the ones in photoshop. I'll try find a link when I'll be at home.

Thanks Go4t! Now have you been using GIMP yourself people? could you write your experience about it? Compare it to Photoshop?
