Electronics PIC interfacing with LCD

i have a question for you guyz. is it possible to use a PIC microcontroller in a circuit consisting of an LCD which is connected to phone and it diaplys the caller's number??

 

you would need a caller ID chip, and caller ID service.

by the time you were done, it would be better/faster/cheaper to mod an existing $15 caller ID stand-alone box into a existing phone.
