    plasma cutter? I got one of those :D used it to cut up a case... a failed case mod but works real good for cutting any kind of metal.

    yep, a wd200 hdd. i may try to stick a led in it, not a bad idea @ all. it can be my "display hdd." obviously, it probably wont last too long. most hdd's dont once they're opened. too bad i dont have a clean room.....actually my room is quite the opposite of clean.

    UPDATE: finished cutting so i de-burred and sanded everything (uber high grit waterproof sandpaper) and realized i had acrylic. no problem, just cut up a cd jewel case, epoxied it on, and it's drying tonight. pics tomorrow

    That's a bit generous. I'd say: a few minutes.

    BTW on the rumour mill I've heard that Hitachi are prototyping HDDs with a clear plexi (or some transparent plastic, anyway) lid. This was a commission by Apple for their new-fangled computer coming up some time next year, perhaps. However they like it so much they may put similar items on the market for PCs as well. It was inevitable, really...
