that doesn't make any sense at all. consoles change alot between generations from looks to hardware.

and i don't think that Madden 2006 video is in game footage. if it is, then i'll believe it when i see it. anyone (who does 3D art) can render a 3d movie like that,

The producers conceded that it was an artists impression of how Madden06 could look based on the specifications of the developer console...

It was simply pre-rendered. It has since been claimed that the final game engine would be more impressive; again like many something that would have to be seen to be believed...

I can't imagine the leap from Xbox > Xbox 360, would be nearly as impressive as was the leap from Playstation One > Xbox/PS2...

But you never know, the ATI card in the Xbox 360 is based on a generation ahead of the current highend card (x800).

If anyone has seen the Unreal 3 engine technical demos, which were running on a standard 6800GT, and assuming the Xbox 360 will be heavily optimised (like the Xbox) then the image quality could well be 80-90% the quality seen in this Madden movie...

Which, for me would be highly impressive.

Nope a lot and I mean a lot of the games are going to be cross generation (PS2/PS3/Xbox/Xbox2) meaning you’re going to get the GFX of a PS2 game with a few more pixel/vertex shaders thrown in.

I mean look at Microsoft’s launch title Halo 2.5 for the X2, wow an old Xbox game with a bit more bump mapping!! :jawdrop:

There will be no Halo launch title...

Gamespot have reported today that a source close to microsoft, that the images shown in this thread and elsewhere are indeed of a prototype...

Apparantly there are half a dozen different prototypes, none of them being the final design...

    I stand corrected.

That is pathetic, I am not going to buy a console that merely updates existing titles with high resolution textures...

Hey guys, I don't mean to be a bubble-burster, but that's obviously a 3D rendering... for a case study, go check out zapwizards old renderings of his projects...

The first pic (with the handle or whatever that is) I'm willing to accept as a photo (though *maybe* not a photo of the xbox... it almost looks like a dell), but the 2nd is 3D and the final is photochopped...

I'm fairly sure it's a photo (I wouldn't say obviously a render.... more possibly) but I'm happy to agree to disagree with you.

I'd definitely say all of the images are prototypes, and the final console design will probably be somewhat different to what we're seeing here. Anyone remember the original xbox "prototype"? - hardly the black brick we ended up with...
