Howdy Im a little new too the piercing thing, I was just wondering how they actually go about piercing your lip and from anyone that has had it done what it feels like. Any tips you could give me and or do's/dont's, im thinking middle of my bottom lip and top of my right ear with just a simple ring in both. Thanks in advanced Morgan.
wipe with an antiseptic towel, clamp with a clampy thing, skewer with needle, cut needle and feed through jewellery (the needle has a plastic tube inside for threading the jewellery). if you're getting your lip done, be sure to have them use a labret (a bar, flat on one side, ball on the other) not a ring. you can change it to a ring a few weeks down the line edit: my lip was probably the most painful piercing yet. hurts like any other when it's being done, but hurts a lot more when it gets in the way (eating, drinking, kissing etc). still, you knew it'd hurt a little right? you might enjoy it
yeah my first piercing was the right side of lower lip. Hurt like a mofo, but didnt bother me too much after it was done. Just really strange feeling.... i was only able to keep it for like a week before i had to loose it for my job...
1. get it done in a good shop, not by one of your mates at home or some hairdresser who got her kit off ebay. 2. they do it by ramming a steel needle through your flesh, sticking a ring-end in it, then dragging it through the bleeding hole. 3. it feels like someone ramming a steel needle through your flesh, sticking a ring end in it, then dragging it through the hole. go to a pericing shop, and ask them about it, they do it every day, make sure its a 'proper' peircing shop, and not just a hairdresser who got themselves a peircing gun. ask if you can watch someone have their peircing done. have a discreet look around, do they use an aneasthetic/antiseptic spray? do they swab down the peircing site? do they use fresh sterile needles for each peircing? do you *see* them break out a fresh needle, or do they use the one in the gun? (if you dont see them take it out of the sterile wrapper, its not sterile, ask for a clean one, always.). do they give you any hygeine advice? do they have a lil "how to care for your peircings" leaflet or similar? its a lot of common sense, but basicly, your gonna have some metal stabbed through bits of your body, expect some pain. if you get your lip done, expect to have to bother cleaning and maintaining it, even more so than your ear. make absolutely double-damn sure the person a) knows what they are doing (i.e. is not a hairdresser who got a peircing gun off ebay) and *everything* is *sterile*, you have no idea who was last under the peircing gun, for all you know it could be some crack-addict with herpes, aids and crotch-fungus. sterile equipment isnt just being fussy, its being safe. but enough of the scaremongering.... its really not that bad, but it will hurt like a bitch. its done in a second and after that you have some shiny peices of metal hanging from your head.
lol, no, but i do know a girl who now has a horrible scar just above her bellybutton and had some nasty damage done to her tongue by some idiot who didnt know what they are doing (and who also didnt know you have an artery in your tongue). i also use needles on a regular basis (no, not for drugs.), and i know how easy it is to do damage with them.
If they get out a piercing gun to do your lip, tell them to shove off. Guns aren't good anyway... any idiot can use one (just look at your local 'claires accessories' place to see that) but should certainly not be used to do a lip piercing. The best thing to do is to ask local people who have a loada piercings (and prob tatts aswell) where they got theirs done... honestly they wont mind. I love it when random people ask about mine! You'll prob find that a few of them say the same places. Thats the place to go checkout.
hmmmm remember when I got my tongue done a good few years back... was originally a way I was trying to overcome my phobia against needles... did it work?? no... Half way through I ended up punching the bloke doing the piercing still it all got done in the end & the bloke was ok... Off food for 3 days though & just on ice-cream, cold heinz chicken soup & plenty of anti-septic mouthwash... took about a week before I could eat proper food again, but had to be careful as hurt like hell! Ok so its not a lip piercing, but still, just an idea of extremeties n such! lad I know had his lip done 3 times... tongue twice, ear 3 times (inculding punch to 3mm & stretched to 15mm), nose...
Used to have my lip pierced. The absolute vital thing in my opinion is to heal it as a labret (not a ring), otherwise it is likely to grow out when your lip swells. Then simply mix up your own saline solution (just water and sea salt) and rinse your lip with it 2-3 times a day. Do these things and you shouldn't have any problems. Just make sure you go to a reputable studio. Ask around if you’re not sure. Once you get there, feel free to get them to show you their hygiene procedures etc. – any good place will be happy to show you. As has been said earlier, make sure they use a needle and not a gun. I personally did not find it particularly painful. It was a sharp nip for a couple of seconds while the needle went through. Just lie back and try to relax, (gripping the armrests if you need to ) and it’ll be over before you know it. Good luck!
Wow Thank you so much for all the info . Now after reading all your post i dont know if this is for me :S i think im gonna have too syke myself up for this one and i hope my freidn can stand me Squeezing her hand real tight hehe. After reading all the info on hygean I think I'll have a look around a bit more and check out the places taht do it, im not sure if i know anyone that has alot of piercings or tattoos but i can see what i can find out. Thank you again all for helping now I just hope i can go through with it will get back too you with the results and i'll remember the labret thing and not a ring. ) *virtual Cookie* for all, Morgan. [edit] Is there any way they culd num my lip/ear so i couldn't feel anything[/edit]
Some places have the anesthetic cream/wipe, though the actual piercing process isnt the most painful bit. Its more sore a few minutes after than during id say...
yeah, when i got my nipple done the guy told me he was spraying on anaesthetic, turns out it was just something cold to get my nip all excited (i had tiny nips at 15 ) the placebo effect was good enough for me though totally agree on the pain thing. the needle going through the lip is a bit of a twinge, no worse than biting your lip hard. the real pain is when you kiss your girlfriend (though pleasure pain is awesome ) or when you accidentally bite the jewellery when eating i removed my lip jewellery after about 6 months, and let it heal. the place i got it done was run by a pretty incompetent guy imo. might get it redone later down the line, though i'm gonna wait until i have a job first good luck with it though morgan don't be a big girl and chicken out
Honestly, there's absolutely no need for that. It's a sharp pain a second and then the needle is through before you know it. I would go as far as saying that it wasn't even painful - more just "uncomfortable". Do it!
No don't do that. Stupid suggestion. Any decent piercier won't do anything on you if you smell/look like you've been drinking. +Alcohol inhibits the healing process, which is the last thing you want to do.
Sorry, I thought it was obvious that I was joking by my use of smilies Strangely you can get a tatoo while you're drunk, there should really be laws against that...
I dont drink so jack would be a waste of £12 lol could take my Ipod instead when i listent oo music don't think about things lol hm. Ok thanks again will go for it just hope it looks good should be a shock too my parents when i come home lol. morgan.
Another suggestion I'd give is to get yourself some Tea Tree oil, and dilute it with Grape Seed oil (health food stores, or possibly the peircing place). About 5 drops into 10ml should be about right. Put a drop on the piercing twice a day, and avoid touching it at all the rest of the time. Avoid strong mouthwash - it'll iritate the bejeezus out of the wound - rinse your mouth out periodically with a bit of salt water instead.
