Hi, due to the recent demise of the speaker on my PDA, i was wondering if a peizo transducer like these could be used as a replacement, if wired up to headphone jack. It will be mounted somewhere in a tomtom cradle(thats all its used for), so 2 questions

    1. could one be wired up to a 3.5mm jack?
    2. are they capable of producing the correct sound ie voices, music etc

basicaly could one be used as an external speaker.

    any advice would be apreciated.

    thanks

    Graham

You can, but the quality will be abysmal (I think a piezo only makes significant sound when the signal crosses from +ve to -ve and vice versa). If your after a cheap quiet speaker just rip apart some el-chepo headphones for some (though be careful the wires are insanely thin and easy to pull off)
