Going single-player this time. http://www.bit-tech.net/news/gaming/2016/12/05/mechwarrior-5-announced/1
A faint ray of hope here for a MechCommander 3 game? Although I think Microsoft still own all the rights to the MechComm games and have killed it off, just like Age of Empires and Zoo tycoon; basically all my childhood rts games.
Hehe. I think my brain dismissed it as a possibility, since everything seems to be ADHD multiplayer focussed nowadays and filtered it as junk. Good news! I can't wait to get in close and personal with the LBX AC20s again, or snipe with the erPPCs.
Greetings! All the artwork is re-used from MWO. Game engine changes from "Crytech something" to Unreal. MWO is adding next week a game mode with a AI controlled mech, probably testing the basic AI functions.
I'm amazed - what with the recent push towards VR - that this doesn't have Vive-compatibility plastered all over it. If there's one game-style that was practically designed for VR support, surely it has to be anything involved in controlling a Mech (or Space Marine in Dreadnought armour?!?)
I am looking forward to this. My major worry is that Pirahna Games are such a bunch of hooting dickwads that they are going to find some way to ruin it, most likely by filling it with micro transactions to a truly absurd degree. But we'll see.
I remember trying to run MechWarrior 4 on full detail and thinking will my card cope , I think it was a vodoo 3500. ah good times.
you missed something important http://battletechgame.com/ //EDIT: oops. didnt see Gunsmiths answer, sorry
Ditto! I switched my Voodoo for a PowerVR which was better on paper, but was supported by almost nothing *facepalm* :/
mechwarrior 4 was ****. after MS got the license they took the sim out it and turned it into a pew pew pew arcade shooter....thing.
Piranha have confirmed that Mechwarrior 5 is designed with VR support in mind, but that is technically not a confirmation that VR support will ever be released to the public. In the meantime, Vox Machinae is still the only VR Giant Robots Vigorously Punch Each Other game in town.
I hope for their sake that they use the TT rules as regards weapon recharge times/damage and heat, because MWO sucks! There are too many teenage tits using alpha-strike builds for laughs and when you get a few of them in a match together and keep bumping into them it ruined MWO for me. MWO became CoD shooter crap, no skill or planning, just alpha strike and your dead.
Greetings! Only if you are totally careless and seriously fail to position yourself. If you you behave as an easy target, you die.
And now that I know about this, I have just become a backer. Its a shame that its not a RTS, being turn based instead, but after a 15+year drought, I'll take what I can get.
