Agreed, a very fine artist paint brush and matt black paint should sort that out Although the Layout doesn't show it I reckon I have room for one card, but won't know until I mount everything. I am pretty happy with the airflow design. Infact it was alot of knowledgable folks here who helped. It is designed to give good airflow in each seperate compartment. Although laying it out this morning and it seems pretty tight, I didn't appreciate how big the PSU was! Although you can't see it in the pictures I left the slot quote big. If you have ever seen a slot load drive you'll know that the aperature is wider at the front and then narrows to CD thickness. Well I left it at it's widest plus the original faceplate is still on the drive with it's own felt.
A small error in your schematic drawing, the GPU waterblocks will be on top of the videocards. Will be watching this mod.
dude, that slot dvd rom on top is so cool! i was going to do something like that, but i couldnt get the drive to fit properly, so i left it out of the project.
If you're still wondering how to fix that hole for the aquatube, you could always use the black aluminium mounting plate for the aquatube to cover it up. Otherwise the mod looks great and I'll be watching it closely.
Simple sexiness so far. I love how you have everything coming up from the top 0 talk about one stop shopping. I'm assuming that this case is to sit on the floor beside your desk?
I like your idea of putting so much stuff on roof of your case I wouldn't have nerves to mod that expensive case so hardly. It ain't cheap when you screw something up badly it's nice to see you've used that bubbleplastic to cover it <3
I can't even tell what's wrong with the hole for the Aquatube, but if you are dissatisfied with it, I'd suggest one of the black aluminum brackets that AC makes.
I like the top mounted stuff. Thought about doing the same a while back, but nixed it because I live in a high dust environment being next to the beach. Keep up the good work!
The "Fairly Dark Computational Device" (Working Title) **Update 13/08/05** OK, managed to get a bit of work done this morning. Worked on the bottom Rad & Pump. Not the greatest circular hole again but at least this is on the bottom. As posted previously it is a really tight fit in there given the size of the PSU. Should prove fun running pipe/cables. I really need to practice more with a jigsaw Grill, Rad and Pump mounted. Motherboard Tray side - you can see the fairly tight loop from the top of the pump to the rad, should be ok though. Back of MB tray side - I have a T-Piece hear so that the Rez will come in at the top and I will have a drain-off point at the bottom. This only leaves one major bit of cutting left, which I am going to do right now
Update 2 for today. As stated in my last post I had one last peice of major cutting to do around the rear fan. So here it is! Thanks to CAD I get an accurate template. You can't really see it here but each corner of the octogon was pearced, I then used a ballpoint to mark the points. Join the dots I think I'm getting used to the Dremel now Finished off with a needle file. Fan mounted ... yes I know the picture is self explanatory! And after all that I'm going to cover it with this, which comes with the V1100. Ahh I must be a true modder now, putting all that work into something that nobody will see! Am I in now, am I, am I
Wow, some hardware fitted. It actually feels like I'm building a PC now! It's nice to see the Gainward 6800 Ultras again even if they have been superceded by the 7800GTX BTW I never mentioned before but I got these from Stefen in AC-Berlin along with all the AC kit. I actually ordered a pair of Club 3D's but he didn't have them in stock and rather then having me wait he sent me a pair of Gainwards GS's instead. I know....cool, thanks again Stefen. I guess you're right jwill With the stock coolers I can't even get a 120mm Fan inbetween the top 6800U and the RAD. That will be sorted when I fit the AC 6800 Watercoolers but no way am I getting a PCI card in there Guess it'll be the sound from the mobo then.
Ahhh finaly somebody uses that case...always thought it had some nice potential...make something nice out of it....
It looks to me like you keep going over the line with the jigsaw and you seem to be very good with the dremel. My sugestion is that you dont cut all the way to the line when useing a jigsaw and get a dremel grinding tip to make it into a circle. I bet you'd get some pretty clean results. I've never been able to do clean cirlces tho
Got it in one. Thankfully I don't have any more circular holes to cut. The last one I ended up cutting an octogon instead Thanks for the feedback.
Quick update. Started working on the cable routing over the last few days. Guess its back to cutting holes in the case Overview of all the cuts. Close up on what I plan to do for the ATX and 2 PCI-E pwr cables. This is the cuts for the HDD as I will be mounting them sideways. All done! A close up on the ATX Cable cut. ...and after a bit if a tidy up. And a loverly 20" Formac LCD in the background That all for now folks.
