Only available for download on the 3 network... great idea considering how little people are on it compared to the other networks.

I'll be amazed if it makes the top 40.

They've kinda got the wrong end of the stick, as 3 probably has nowhere near as many consumers as say, iTunes.

I think you'd be surprised - I know many people with younger brothers/sisters (teenagers) who constantly listen to MP3s on their phones. Also at work we're surrounded by 16-24 year olds who appear to have a contest with their phones to see who has the best MP3 ringtone at the moment.

It may not appeal to the more technically advanced (us), but it definately appeals to teenagers.

I agree it seems a bit misguided to only offer their download via one small supplier.

However, I disagree on the format. I have been using my phone for an MP3 player for the past two years and I work with loads of people who keep buying the latest iPods, yet still carry around an MP3 capable phone.

Not one has ever been able to give me a good reason why they go out and spend hundreds of pounds on these devices, when they already have and carry around with them, the perfect alternative!!

Battery life. I don't care if the battery on my MP3 player dies on me during my commute, just means I dont listen to music. I get a little more narked if when I need to make an urgent call (oy love put the kettle on I'm nearly home :D ) my phone is dead as I was listening to Jive bunny on my journey home.

Yeah, fair point, also I can't listen to my MP3's on a plane, as I can't operate the MP3 functionality without having the phone switched on and apparently they don't like you using mobile phones on airoplanes... :eyebrow:

Still, it now has 1GB memory (as much as the new iPod nano, for less than half the price) and as long as I don't forget my charger, and don't catch the plane too often, I should be fine!!

FYI, I get around 4 - 5 hours of continuous play on my phone, so unless your commute to work is an extreme one.... :duh:

    this is ****ing stupid

    A) how many people want to get a song they can only play on their phone

    B) how many people want to listen to music on their phone (in the grand scheme of things, i dont think many)

    C) 3 isnt even a massivly popular network, with vodaphone / orange seeming to be the biggest ones

Heh, so tempted to sig that.

Agreed with the original point though, among other things. Better idea, methinks.
