Anyone know any good information sources on how to play the game? Played it for about 20 mins and couldn't find an enemy!
lol I can never find the forum, it's on my bookmark bar at home. If I remember I'll link it up when I'm in
Deffo want to squad up, but what faction / server? Maybe we should get on Mumble, I think it performs better not being reliant on a busy game server (or cluster or whatever it takes). Edit: Beta testing is hard when you are used to just accepting bugs and moving on.
Especially given that since the update, every time I'm killed in a vehicle the game crashes to desktop. LOL Not ideal! Link to the official forums below http://forums.station.sony.com/ps2/index.php
There aren't enough tips / tutorial aids for my liking; most of the time I don't know what's going on. How do you spawn on your squad, is it the instant action spawn point? I really am struggling to enjoy this game; although I know it's something I would enjoy if I had a manual to read first. Now it's out of NDA some guides should start appearing.
You need spawn beacons, which are a Squad Leader certification and an item you need equiped and resupplied. At twilight in the southern regions it can be beautiful. Pro landing?
Looks epic,. The sheer amount of people playing at anyone time and the scale of the maps is phenomenal. I just hope there is a really solid fan-base for this as team play will be crucial on such large operations. I had to lmao - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W1ZtBCpo0eU
Team Play is awesome, i lucked out and got in an excellent squad, using comms etc, it was awesome.... We had a galaxy and were flying to a area and capturing and holding it. I was flying escort in a reaver? (the NC fighter) And it was just great watchign everyone get out defending, with reps being called etc. When i was eventually shot down and joined the guys on the ground it was crazy how effective we were, we eventually took a station and had an aggressive counter attack, we ended up staying there for a good hour defending it! Also there is an awesome guide on this site - http://terran-republic.com/Exhibit/news/planetside-2-instruction-manual/ i cant get it to work on this machine but somewhere in the news was a picture giving a basic rundown of how to capture etc. Im concerned about how slowly the Aurxis (an in game resource which allows the weapon unlocks) is being built, after about 15-20hrs play i have only amassed about 3500. However on the flipside there are no infantry weapon unlocks yet (only 2 rocket launchers) so perhaps this will allow an unlock or 2?? They need to work on the squadplay, there are some features needed, atm the only real way to co-ordinate is voice comms, on screen style "Medic" symbols like in BF3 would be very useful, there is a squad Waypoint facility, but flicking in and out of the map will be a pain. Voice Comms seem to work very well, you can broadcast to your squad, platoon (4xsquads together) or even to people in the general vicinity. I realise this is all beta and they are working on all sorts, but it has the potential to be an excellent game, my experience working in a squad who knew what they were doing was amazing, i look forward to getting in a good outfit (the Guilds of PS2) and havin designated roles (for example a squad of reavers to cover the Galaxy between points and provide CAS as i did or Liberators to bomb in area in advance of the Platoon). Its still a long way but i look forward to the launch of this game
Thats a pretty good intro vid for PS2, will be interesting to see the next one with mass infantry combat. Would like a key for the beta but will have to wait and see if i get in.
There is a lot wrong with it still and most of features aren't available yet, so I don't think you missing out on too much. I'll put it like this, game play balancing is a long way down on priorities for SOE, there are more concerned about big picture stuff, like base cap mechanics, optimisation and how the servers are doing.
Heh typical SoE and their pay for betas >.< I'm keen to play this sometime but it's one game I really don't wanna beta. I have heard people say that currently it's like half hour travelling to a battle and then it's like 50/50 that you die in one shot to some sniper, or have an awesome battle. In other words, sounds like it could be a great game but I'm gonna wait for it to be finished and fine tuned.
Me too. Not exactly F2P if you pay £30 for the instant access!! Looks like it might be the next big thing, for me anyway. Not much else taking me away from BF3 as yet!
