I'm thinking of painting the frame of my keyboard black, because it looks sort of "albino" with the black monitor in front. I did a quick photoshop-job which you can see below. I'm not even considering to paint the keys, as they will just get worn out quickly, and it won't look good using transfers for the letters.
I wonder how durable the paint will be, even though I don't really touch the frame mentionable when typing.
Could I just use vinyl color and no clear coat on it (as I want to keep the same matte finish as my computer and the TFT). How many coats should I use and with which grit of sandpaper should I sand between coats?

Here's the photoshop job. (I'll probably do the receiver box too, but not the mouse, as it will just wear off quickly)
Do you think it looks ok with only the frame painted and the keys still white?

I don't think your supposed to sand it when you use vinyl dye.

I'm not sure if it really is vinyl dye or if it is just vinyl color, as it says on the can. But anyway, what damage can it do?

I was at my local hobby store yesterday and happened to see a can of clear coat that says it dries flat ... I wasn't aware flat clear coat was even made ...

sickskater6911, I just inverted the color of the keyboard (but not the surroundings). Actually I used a program called Picture Publisher to do it, but it's the same in photoshop.

And, as I have no clue what AIM is, I would answer no to that last question.

Many things in this world are evil.. AIM isn't really one of them :hehe: (/me fan of AIM)

anyway.. i think it looks alright with just the frame, but ideally, go with painting the keys too, it'll just look better.

anything with the name aol written on it is evil

If you go with a dark colour then i say paint the keys but if you are going with a lighter colour then it would look fine unpainted imo
