    hey,
well, wadya know.. i found a case on the way home from school today. there is also a 2000+ Pally and dual proc board headed my way... and i got a spare PSU and 20GB drive i can use and old school PCI graphics card. then i need some ECC ram, and it should be working... that is a grad total of... £35 for mobo, £25 for proc, and £xx for ram *not sure what to get/cost/second hand?* so around £100??

well, anyway.. here is the case i found.. tis slightly shorter than my full tower, but is longer by about an inch, same width.. its a CD-server.. but should be ideal as is big, but im not sure how i will mount mobo
im also not sure about the PCI slots, etc. by the way the case is made i will have to mount mobo upside down.. or fabricate a whole new back???

well any tips would be great, only plans for the moment include some sanding, and spraying black, this will be my first modded case, so i have NO idea on what to do.. what paint, etc. cheers.

please help me! for i am ignorant and n00bish in modding!!

Interesting case dude. Think it's gonna take some effort to get a dual CPU mobo inside that thing.

yay! someone replied... well i got some more ideas for it...

i, gonna have to mount the mobo sideways, it will fit (just) as its an ATX form factor board. i will put another 120mm fan below that one.. and then insted of having slots and connections out of the back, i would use extension leads and route all the connections to a module at the top back of the case *where is says res. in the pic* should this work?

also... i have no way of mounting mobo... will a couple of small beams with threads running across back work? thanks...

here is a pic of planned stuff.. ph33r my 1337 PS7 5ki11zzz *cough*

    lol @ the mad ps7 skillz... :D

Heh, noticed the mobo mounting issue...when I saw that case I was thinking it was an old scsi storage box or cd-tower...

Should make a pretty cool case to mod though, can't wait to see what you do with it... :D

    nice gallery

as for the mobo thing . . . i thought you said it "just barely fits"? Or did you mean the case fits into the case, but not into the proper place?

What form factor is that case? Also, you could hack up an older ATX case and replace the back with some work.

first off: that is a sweet case! tons of modding potential i see.... you just gotta be creative.....

aight well this is what i would do.... i would buy some sheet aluminum, or a pre-made lian li mobo tray or something.... and then bolt it into there (assuming there is enouigh room.... try takin a pic with a fullsize mobo in it....)

and then you got 2 options.... that big box at the top of the case is either..... gunna be there, but be right over the socket...... or be sawed off :p (though i rather like it.... it just might not be practical to keep it there)

just be abstract with the whole case... and if you can think of ANY way to fit something in there (even if its totally unreasonable) think through it cuz there is most likely a way to do just that if u just use the right resources :)

    heya,
yeah, i mean the mobo will fit if i put it in sideways.... as its 25cm high and about 31cm wide... just bigger than ATX form factor... but the wrong way round :worried:

so, i plan to mount it sideways... and then have extensions leads from all the sockets, e.g. USB, VGA, etc. in the way they did it for project christmas tree in custom pc, anyone see that?

the big box in the top can be taken out easily *as shown in pic 2* but i think i will leave it in, as it fits my PSU in perfectly, to the millimeter, and mebbe i could put my res/re route the ports/connectors to the top?

    this sound ok? cheers

P.S. tek, nice gallery man :thumb:

Now what are the chances of finding a side pannel to match?

right . . . he just found it laying around :worried: :naughty:

Might have to end up painting the whole thing. I think it might be hard to get the front to match exactly (speaking of which, vinyl dye is probably your best choice)

yar.. well there all in the same place.. about 3 of them with 120mm fans.. and about 15 black/white ones with no front and just framework and panels. what i could do is put tinted plexi glass on front.. and on the sides that are left over, as in edges of front bezel covered in look-alike carbon fibre stuff? that ok? methinks that would look hella cool, sound ok?

Thats a beautiful find, although I've come to despise those type of covers. As far as a way to bring a bit of shine to it, you could wetsand it and clearcoat it, or maybe even wax it if your adventurous ;p
