Try lighting supply places, Such as all-phase or others, and find the street light style, the domes on those are spheres, with a hole in one side to fit over the bulb...

    security

i'm not sure about clear, but security stores have dark shaded domes for use in stores, you know, those domes you see overhead? they have some pretty nifty shapes... and if you cant find any, find 2 other dome shaped objects, heat up the acrylic, and cast a sphere yourself, just make sure you have a good heater

Try some craft (think of ladies types of craft stores here) stores as well, this time of year with Ch*****as coming up, there are a lot of people who like ot make little diorama type tree ornaments, and put them is side of these clear balls they can hang from their trees, wreaths ect.

I looked there they have some but they stop at like 6" i think wich is far too smal, and i'm making a case some time int he future that is a sphere with water and oil interacting around the outside. It's difficult to explain which is why I didn't try.

Go to a pet shop and look at the fish tanks. You may find something of use.
