Looks a bit pish really. Anyone with that sort of system, imo, should just stick to morrowind. If you take the graphics out of it, Morrowind gains a lot of headway back into Oblivions greatness, maybe even surpassing it in most ways.

 

I actually think that doesnt look so bad, im also wondering if this would perhaps people that have low performance on newer machines at all. Interesting

 

I ever wondered, why the publishers don't do this by themselves. New games should also run with older hardware as well, even if they look not so good.
Why I'm buing new games?!? Not for the new fancy graphics, just for some new experiences, because the old ones, which i've played thru are getting boring after a while.

 

I'd be interested to know this. I'm struggling to run it looking nice on my XP3000, 1GB and 6600GT

If I can install this patch and use SM1.1 then I'd give it a try.

 

This is perfect! Now my girlfriend doesn't have to wait till I upgrade to get my 6800GT as a hand-me-down. Plus it will put a stop to the hostile take-overs and subsequent puppy dog eyes when she wan't to terrorize the good people of Cyrodiil.

 

People with FX cards have been using DX8 and SM1.1 since the game was released, just a matter of changing the parameters in the Oblivion.ini file.

This one helps stop crashes, which could be a problem since its not officialy supported.

Even if the visuals aren't as good, its still alot better then Morrowind, which was also a good game but most have played it, and it plays aged a bit too.

 

That looks almost like what I'm playing it at, and mine's still pretty unplayable at points. Granted, I deserve it for playing at 1680x1050 on a 6800gt. I think it's finally time to bump it down to 1600x900 and see what I can do.

 

Just get a few 7900's.

My friend wants to play it but his 4200 just cant hack it for some reason. This should help.

oh well, if you would rather sacrifice oblivions awesome gfx for not upgrading ...

anyway, i wonder if it can handle it, cos the game is gonna be CPU limited too

if you only have a 4 series or somthing, your proccessor might not/probably wont hack it (well depending how much the game is changed)

 

saw this earlier. looked at the screens and said to my friend, "wow, it looks better than oblivion does in the official screens. no HDR making my eyes hurt and bleed" friend replied, "hahah, yeah hdr does look awfull"

but i might throw together an older computer just to see how it would run on old hardware

Maybe HDR and the other fancy graphics things are just fancy power stealers
