Windows Play, pause, stop, ... not working

I've got this MS keyboard with play, pause, next, rewind, and buttons like those on it. Now the volumebuttons work always, just as the "mute" button. But the "Play/Pause", "Stop", "Next" and "Previous" don't work when some applications (like Opera or Outlook) are activated.

What can I do to make them work, always?

It's not your keyboard. I have several keyboards of different brands that do the same thing. If I get one thing to work, then another doesn't.

The only thing I could suggest is check for your keyboard software is the latest and greatest. They post new version periodically.

I even had one keyboard that the mute would actually change the sound volumes properties to mute, show the sound was muted, but the sound was not muted. Odd is when I actually muted the volume and used the keyboard to un-mute, it worked.

I guess what I am saying, is it's not just your keyboard, but I don't know the solution.

 

did you actually installed the drivers?

 

Yes I installed the keyboard drivers that came with the keyboard on my wife's computer. That is the one that the mute works goofy.

In the past on older O/S I also installed the multi-media software and had various small goofy problems.

My current keyboard that I am using has the software installed and everything seams to work OK. I don't use a lot of the special features, but some often.
I know with Windows XP I did not have to install the software, but did because my keyboard is wireless and this adds encryption between my keyboard and computer. The software also tells me if my batteries are getting low. I sure feel better knowing my keyboard is transmitting Secure Data.

I just didn't want you to think your keyboard was bad. I guess it could be, but most likely it is just a software glitch as I have had in the past.
