I've got plans to build a lead to connect a PS1/PS2 pad to a PC, but I'm having a nightmare finding the required pad extension cable. The mod with the lead involves you clipping off the female connector off the lead, then connecting certain leads to certain pins on the DB-25 parallel port (see the linkie), but does anyone have any info on the pinouts of the PS pad lead itself? (so I can bypass the extension lead altogether and just hack away at an old PS1 non-analogue pad) Or alternately, has anyone else tried a similar mod with any luck? If you wanna know why, I think the Playstation style pad is simply the best gamepad design *evar*, and I really love them . Plus the driver for the mod allows you to use the analogue and even the force feedback (read: rumbling motors ) Cheers in advance!
http://www.playserver7.com/play247.asp?page=title&r=PC&title=114167 £6.99 delivered, its prolly cheaper than building your own and allows for 2 pads, and all the various other types of playstation controllers...
Cut the controller cord, then solder the wires to a DB-9 connector. The solder the other side of the wires (the part with the plug that you cut off) to the opposite variety of DB-9 connector. Then solder another of the same DB-9 connector to a DB-25 connector, making any of the necessary jumps. That's how I did it, but I used a battery for the 9 volt line, and the USB power for 5 volt. If you'd like, I can get you a list of the color wire to pin position / wire assignment, but I can't garuntee that mine will be the same as yours. For best results just use a continuity tester to determine which wire goes to which pin.
