    Lol.

I have found Extreme Outervision to be reasonably close to reality as long as you don't select a high value for capacitor aging. However I do agree that an online tool really doesn't replace a person's knowledge.

EDIT: Just as a check I put the system specified above into the Extreme Outervision PSU calculator using an overclock to 3.5Ghz at stock voltage/20% cap aging and it came up with 379W. That would be about what I would expect and backs up the suggestions that a 500W to 600W PSU is fine.

I would stick with the StealthXStream. A review of the ModXStream on Overclockers Club shows quite a lot of ripple. Although it is within the ATX12V standard it is still higher than I would expect on a good quality PSU.

all ocz's have quite a bit of ripple, especially the stealth. additionally, the stealth series seems to hide the oem, and uses lower quality capacitors... if you're going ocz, go modxstream or even gamerxstream, though i wouldnt go any personally, i'd opt for the corsair.

Which Corsair, though? Only the miserly CX400W (one of my all-time favourite components) is cheaper than the ModXStream, and it's 100W down and non-modular! I wouldn't drop below 450W for this build, but even the HX450W (another great PSU) is £58, and still 50W down. What would you pick?

i know the price is a factor in his build, so if he absolutely wants modular, then he should probably go with the 500w modxstream. gives him headroom for capacitor aging and a possible upgrade or two. but if it were me, i'd go i5-750 and corsair 650hx. overkill, yes. but so much better. maybe the seasonic m12II 520.

The HX650W is £93 from Scan, nearly double what ModXStream costs for a power gain of just 150W; it's a great PSU but not on this budget. Also, the power consumption of 1156 is less, isn't it? So you could get away with less than 650W, surely. If we use all £800 of the budget, the OP could try the excellent TX650W (£803 inclusive) or the VX550W (£796 inclusive). Neither's modular, though.

The Coolermaster Silent Pro may also be worth considering. JonnyGuru gave it a reasonably good review.

i hear you. he could get away with 450 easily. i guess it just comes down to his budget and priority. you guys over there have a better idea of how that fits than i do sittin in the usa

good call, didnt even think of that. a better choice to me than the modxstreams

do you guys have then new m series from seasonic yet over there?

With the budget in mind the Corsair HX450 is probably the best option at just under £60.

Otherwise there is a bit of a group in the low £60s which includes the 500W Enermax Eco80+, Coolermaster Silent Pro M500 and Corsair 550VX.

The Silverstone Strider ST50F-230 is reasonably priced at just over £50 but I have no idea what it's performance is like.
