I am addicted to the game Medal of Honor Allied Assault Demo. I play the game every single day. My graphic card broke down so i put a new one Nvidia Geforce FX 5200. Since then many changes happened to my pc. I managed to fix some of them and I even donwloaded new drivers or updated drivers from Nvidia. For some reason I cann't launch the demo !!! The error message reads: Error signature AppName: mohaanetdemo.exe AppVer: 1.0.0.1 ModName: unknown ModVer: 0.0.0.0 Offset: 4f49534e Would someone out there please HELP ME? I'm dying here. I don't know what to do. I'm not that good at computers. Thanks. Mary
First of all, thank you for replying. And yes, I reinstalled the game 4 times and it still doesn't work !!!
Did you uninstall the video drivers before reinstalling? Last resort options are to: a) Find something more productive to do with your time b) Reinstall Windows c) Try another graphics card. An FX5200 is old, and a very weak card at that. It's possible that it simply cannot handle this game. A lot of new games, such as Bioshock, are not compatible with similarly old but more powerful cards such as the 9800pro. Check with the demo or full game's recommended specs to see your card is powerful enough. Also, what type of card was the one that broke?
Thnx 4 replying So you're telling me that the Nvidia Geforce FX 5200 is not good enough for games such as Medal of Honor?!! I don't know the type of the old graphic card I had but it was very old. I bought my pc back in the 2004 and it worked perfectly with this game. If i reinstal my windows, would it solve the problem?
Yikes! I took a look a the specs for that game, which was released in 2002, and it seems that the FX5200 should be quite capable of rendering this game. Unless of course the game you're trying to play isn't the one from 2002. I'm not saying that reinstalling windows will solve the problem, I'm saying that as a last resort, reinstalling windows *might* solve the problem. I would first look into uninstalling all video drivers from the computer, and then reinstalling the proper drivers again.
what was your old graphics card? did you cleanly remove the old drivers? re-install direct x install an older version of the graphics card drivers.
Hey i really don't know what was my old graphic card. i didn't remove my old drivers. i just went to the site of Nvidia and downloaded them. I will try reinstalling the direct x and will inform you if it works. THANKS
That might be a problem. Do this: Download Driver Cleaner. Boot into safe mode. Clean the drivers with that tool. Boot into normal mode and install the new drivers.
That Might Be the Problem The only thing is I am not sure I can do whatever You told me to do. Where do I dl Driver Cleaner from? how do i boot into safe mode? Please clearify that for me. I appreciate it so much.
To boot to safe mode: As your pc turns on, hit F8 repeatedly untill you get a menu allowing you to choose your boot options. One option will be "Safe Mode"
Hey There Thanks for your help. I clicked the link you posted but I didn't know what to choose there. I don't know much about computers and I didn't want to ruin my pc. Would you be kind and add me (mareee123@yahoo.com) so that we can do this step by step? Really appreciate this.
I finally dl the driver cleaner. It showsme several things there. what should I tick and what order should i give?!
When you downloaded Driver Cleaner, it should come with a manual/readme. It is very clear and concise about what to do. I'd print them out and follow them exactly. You need to find your old card though as when you run Driver Cleaner in Safe Mode, you'll need to know which 'drivers' to 'clean'. Fish it out from the bin, whatever, we/you need to know what make it is.
