Hi Guys, sorry my English is not well. Some body try to do plasma ball mod? Here Here and lot where also said that it is very simple mod. But when i Try to place this ball just near the computer (something about 30 centimeter), my computer is become very slooooooow working. When i ask my friends, they are told too about this effect and think that it is lie (about this mod). Some body try to do plasma ball mod? Thanks guys!
Hmm that sounds really odd. i dunno if i can help you cus this mod is new to me.. might be something special to make it were it doesn't slow it down or something...
You mean this ... Yup it works. For some reason. I would have figured that it would mees with the computer somehow. Oh. BTW Welcome to the Bit-Tech Forums!!
I have one, and if mine's placed too close to my monitor, the image becomes wobbly. I didn't notice anything with my computer though.
The ball does generate an EMF field and depending on how your components are set up, orientation, distance, and so on it could affect your computer. Maybe the reason your computer slows down is because of error correction? I've seen the mod before in real life so it does work. I guess to make the mod work would be to build a faraday cage around it, ie. screen wire tied to ground might work.
That's a little plasma globe we is talking about. You should see THIS and here. I've seen it in real life at a Dutch modding meeting...
couldn't see the first, but that second one is wicked man. i wonder how long it took to make something like that.
you shouldnt ground to aluminum... if it even works at all. ground to power supply or steel or something but i dont think alum will work well.
sorry, but i think you all are wrong. Your answer is quite simple. The plasma globe gives off an magnetic wave, or the gas inside the globe, which can kill, is reacting wrongly to the parts. It really depends how far.. Try moving the glove away, lets say 3 feet?? It worked for the modder because that globe must have been filled with a non-reactive chemical. Each chemical makes a color. I beleive to make purple-red you need a mixture of helium-argon, so it doesnt have an affect, but others use gases that float around with unclean material in it that reacts to metal and electric parts around it. Just move it, or buy a new globe if its that important to you.
www.blingmethod.com V5 if you have a glass ball instead of a plastic one there really shouldn't be any problem. glass is one of the best insulators out there. PCB's are on fiberglass boards. thats why you see all the old vacuum tubes were made out of glass, no, thats was not old-skool modding, thats the wonderful insulating properties of glass! anything is completely doable, as long as you have the right stuff. that oughta be bit-techs new motto! clearance should be the only real issue.
i REALLY, REALLY wanna do the V2 mod at www.blingmethod.com 'cept my 19" monitor isn't boxy, it's... flowing, i guess is the word. i figure I'll have to dremel the part where the window will be, then oven heat some plexi and mold to the shape. will kinda be distorted through an uneven case though.
oops, typo on my part. I meant "get somethig like the". Basically I was thinking of doing liek manufactureers already do in monitors. A metal change to block the magnetic interference.
I recently ordered a miniature plasma ball from Performance PCs, thought it might interest you all : http://www.performance-pcs.com/cata...=1207&osCsid=9ee7c4ca2ffd474a13ff58e3e6f614ea I haven't recieved it yet though, so I can't comment on it. But from what is said in the description it has no effect on PC components.
yep they sell plug-n-play plasma balls now.. which is pretty sad.. they also have them at www.frozencpu.com but they kinda overcharge
