    Dear Bit-tech,

you're one of the few sites where I disable my adblock, but lately you've been showing ads from O² which bring my system down to a crawl :miffed:(P4 3.2, not the fastest I know, but you should NOT need more for reading the news). I regret to inform you that until you get rid these demanding ads, adblock is going back on. O²:grr: is hardly winning over my love by keeping me from reading my favorite site:sigh:.

Yeah, these eat 30-40% of my CPU too, though they seem to be showing up less as of late.

flash ads are pretty much full of fail in the best of cases, anyway. i'm gonna go all out and provide some formal feedback: no flash ads, please!

I did mention it back then and I've mentioned it again to the sales team. Hopefully they'll speak to the client to reduce the resource hogging it's doing.

Is there a way for the site to only display 1 advert per page, and to change it each time you load. Just watched the past 4 pages i browsed through, and each time, i had the O2 ad, twice out of 3 ad spaces, and it kinda kills my wee 1.4ghz power pc mac (All on 3, awww, bless it)

+1 for me on this both excellent add-ons for Firefox! They help speed things up considerably.

I'm sorry to say I agree with this too. With both O2 ads (top and right), firefox is using ~28% CPU on a quad core box.

Seriously, those ads are slowing your computers down that drastically? My vista desktop with an AXP +3200 (512mb ram) only goes up to a max of 20% usage with two O2 ads on at once (fluctuates between 15 and 20%). Even then, I notice absolutely no slow-down as far as responsiveness goes (that's with azureus running, and winamp tuned to an internet radio station).

They're annoying, just like all advertisements, but it's not like my box is going to explode due to the amount of resources they're taking up.

No, but that's 28% CPU time wasted that could be put to better use elsewhere, like, say, Folding@home ;)

does it on my system as well, but i use opera, thay must have alot of frames in that O2 ad it needs removeing (affects me way more when got GPU folding running as this what i am typeing in now lags alot) if you got Quad or Duel its 25% or 50% is cpu maxed out (flash is single threded)

as you can see from the spec of my pc it is not slow, please Report that ad to your advertisers or i add your ad proiver to my block list in opera

I'm guessing that these ads only show up on UK IPs? I haven't seen them at all.

As much as I would like to see the rest of the Adverts I have blocked all ads until this situation is sorted out, it's been a long time in my opinion, and if this were Pre-Denis the situation would've been fixed within a few days (it has happened before with a bubbles flash ad)
