On my glowpad table, I used two blue leds of 2500 mcd each. The plexi was 26x26 cm. However, I think the light in the table is a little dim, you can only see it at night.
I am adding a plexi shelf to my TV stand, and I want this to shine a little brighter. I was first thinking of using five leds of 2500 mcd, but I came across some cheap ($2.40) blue 8000 mcd leds, and thought these might be perfect for me. The plexi sheet which is going to be lit, is about 55x40 cm. How bright do you think it will be when I equip it with three 8000 mcd leds? Will it show in daylight?

It is quite hard to make it so bright that it will show easily in sun light. Sand the edge and don't aim the led directly against the edge but let it bounce around a bit and it will be better. Otherwise it will show only 3 hotspots if you use three leds.

oh, and send some images of your mods/items to http://metku.net/modgallery/ . It is nice to see how people are using the Glowpad idea. :)
