where cna i get some pnematics from any ideas i found a link a little while back but lost it and can't find it again. thanks morgan.
depends what size you're looking for, but if you're gonna use it in a computer, it might help to look for model aircraft stuff. I mean they're small, light and remote controlled - I've even got some software somewhere that could set the things off (but that'd involve radio hardware). Before uni I used to fly the things, and the remote control landing gear used pnematics. In the back of RCM&E magazine there's stacks of retailers, don't know many online though
are these the type of thing you are looking for? linky *edit* Here's the link to the US manufacturers site linky
Do you know if they ship to the US? I will check later if no one knows, but I'm in about to go to class. On a similar subject, what about those pneumatic-ish things on car/truck hoods, hatches? That arn't controlled, they constantly want to be in the "out" position. Something like that would be perfect for what I need, but they are generally too big to fit inside a computer case Anyone know where to get smaller ones or if they are even made?
Tower Hobbies has them, but you will pay for 'em. As far as the Hood-Struts...check a local Auto-Parts store as there ARE some small-ish ones. My Camaro (198X) has tiny (1ft long) hood struts on it. What size are you looking for?
Yeah thats the kinda thing i was looking for thanks man Looking for tiny ones to lift something about 30mm off the ground morgan.
Only 30mm?? Have you though of custom making an airbag system? Pretty simple to make, lower-cost, fast and strong too! I see you have CNC access? So it would be an easy and cool project...
I am planning on doing a rather extensive mod on a Super Flower case (Lian Li style). I want the top of the case to propel itself open once you tug on it a bit. I already know it will work if I get parts that fit. One foot long fully extended would be perfect actually... Hopefully it's not too powerful though... I open it and the top of the case flies off! Anyway, the top of the case will open up to give you access to a control panel for fans and power as well as access to hard drives and the PSU. The mod is REAL extensive, so it is hard to explain everything... I will start a work log once I actually get some time and write an article on it over at TheTechLounge. BTW, I am the owner of TTL... I guess that would be good to know
Well, I went to the local AutoZone and I found a rather nice looking 8-10" or so strut! It was PERFECT... until I realized that it has waaay too much power. I guess struts meant to raise a giant medal hood or trunk of a car is a bit much for a flimsy computer case... Any other suggestions?
